quotegg. But I did notice it ripping off Gears of War with the Conduits and how they continuously spawn aliens, just as the holes do in Gears.
quote MikstaslayaI said it's technically not a ripoff of Halo or Gears but that it reminds me of them since there are so many games like them and they are the premier games with that crap.Don't say rip off, as that usual insists the game completely copied the idea from. Lets face it, there are tons of alien shooters out there so there's no way in hell that this game ripped off of Halo. And as for spawn points there are tons of games with those too (not just Gears, but also Quake 4, Half Life 2, etc.) so again, not a rip off. It's fine to say the game reminds you of Halo or Gears but a rip off is almost like assuming Gears of War 2 and Halo 3 were the first games to do alien shooters or spawn points.
quote Barmy BratFirst impressions: Pretty boring.
I'm typically rubbish at FPS games so that probably doesn't help my opinion of this, but I feel so disconnected from the game when I play that I honestly couldn't care about anything that's happening. It's as though they tried to include every cliche they could think of and so I've literally been groaning through all the cutscenes so far. Secret Government organisations? Check. Terrorists? Check. Chemical weapons? Check. Aliens? Check. Playing as a super-skilled government agent? Ugh, check. It's obnoxiously trite.
The environments are stock standard and could have come from any FPS shooter of the past decade. The graphics are technically impressive but also utterly forgettable because the game has no art direction whatsoever.
I just got up to the part in the third mission where you first meet the aliens, as soon as they started running up that corridor I went from full health to zero health instantaneously and I'm not sure why. What's the default difficulty level? If I'm not playing on the easiest mode I might turn it down a notch. And what's everybody's bounding box settings? I can't get mine to feel right.
