Obviously one of the only cool new aspects about this game that we know about is the fact that your starter Pokemon can follow behind you onscreen. This hearkens back to Pokemon yellow, where Pikachu would follow you onscreen.
So, do you think this will be limited to only your first generation starter Pokemon? If so, will you purposely not evolve your starter Pokemon just for the novelty of having it follow you?

I rather like the idea of all Pokemon following me around. I don't think I would stop my Pokemon from evolving just because it could follow me around though.

Unfourtuately the rat-like creature that has come to be known as Pikachu is very popular in Japan, so it is somewhat inevitable if there are select few that follow you around. Eevee was quite an attraction during the Gold/Silver era because of the its new evolution method.
Of course going by this theory we would have to expect Jigglypuff as a follower as she is also popular in Japan. This completely discredits my whole hypothesis..who the hell wants a big pink ball of fat following you around?

The whole pokemon following would get annoying after time but i guess there will be a limit on what pokemon could follow you.
I say let the main one follow you. The one that is first in your party.

There's nothing special, it's that they're reasonably sized to fit in the tile that the player occupies in the overworld.
Also, you just freaking mentioned Pikachu. Daft!

Hmm..well if they follow you and you turn around to talk to it, is every individual Pokemon going to have an animation like Pikachu did?
I don't think it would make sense for most of them to follow.. I could forsee the starters from Johto, Eevee, and Pikachu following. Not the evolutions though.
