quote shadow warrior 9I would try to get the actual v104 setup file. Patching generally only works when you're within a version or two.Okay so I have a similar situation as SlangX. Except I have windows 7 running on Mac via parallels. I also have it as a partition using bootcamp.
I downloaded the mssetup file from a mirror site and installed it fine. Then I try to play from the website and I get the server check, firewall problem. (no server check, turned my firewall off and still no go). So then I tried the Manual patcher which got me all the way to "Base.wz" and proceeded to freeze for hours. So I tried to play it using game launcher. It goes all the way up to the hack shield loading then nothing. Nothing pops up and I get nothing. I can see it running in the background but I waited like 10 minutes and nothing. I re-installed it and tried to manual patch and it said my patch file is corrupt now. I tried to do this on parallels and on my bootcamp partition. Nothing works. So I'm just at the point I'm going to get the mssetup file from nexon itself not a mirror site since the mirror site as v96 not v104. Anything you can suggest, Lorx?
quote SlangXIf it's a sign, it's a sign of warning, telling you to flee.Hmm, after hours of tinkering, nothing seems to work. Perhaps it's sign, maybe I should be doing something else with my time, haha. Cheers for the help.

quote SlangXPoked around Google a bit and found this gem, which may help. It says DirectX9 is more or less a requirement, so that could very well be your problem. Maple's gotten rather bloated over the years, so running it takes more effort from your computer as time goes on, so while DirectX8 may have cut it last year, this year could be a different story. However from the many search results it seems like the source of your problem could be pretty much anything, as it's nexon's way of giving you an error report. It's been the effect of everything from firewall blocks to auto-click hacks, from outdated hardware to install problems.Alright guys, I'm having some huge start-up issues. I've been playing MS on and off for years (since early days of Beta!), no issues until now, even when I'm running Windows XP on my Mac via Windows Parallels. Loading the game via the Nexon website just sends me into an infinite loop where I'm told to 'download the game' to play it, even though I already have the game installed. So I decided to use the GameLauncher to override this, but that leads to complete system crashes and restarts. Firewall is disabled, computer specs are more than up to par, no viruses etc. Question is, will Direct X 8.1 not cut it on Windows XP anymore? I've tried updating to 9 numerous times but it won't allow it (I'm running a pretty old version of XP). Any help would be appreciated, cheers.
quote Anonymous RebornThat kind of problem is almost always coding issues, happened a lot with Zak fights for a while. There's a thread somewhere around here where I was having that problem and looking for solutions, just before/after BB. Best advice I have is brave through it, hope for a ninja fix.My game has been crashing a lot more lately and I receive no error message at all. This seems to happen on some areas outside towns/cities.
quote KotaI'm using Windows 7 Ultimate and MapleStory runs very smoothly for me. The only thing that would worsen the performance is when I'm having Internet connection troubles, or there is an event on MapleStory where there are a ton of people trying to sign in and start playing and causes some stress on the servers. (Such as the Chaos patch today).quote Anonymous RebornYeah, so I'm not really sure if it'd work. I've seen him work before, and he does an excellent job with everything he does whether it's OS upgrades, virus cleaning, fixing broken screens etc... He offered me a discount for the upgrade but I'm not sure if I want to do it because there's no guarantee that maple will work again.quote KotaNot sure, but Windows 7 Ultimate is really a jump from Windows Vista Home. That's what I was hoping.
Also, I found someone who would upgrade my pc from Windows Vista home premium to a fully licensed Windows 7 Ultimate, do you think that would fix the problem?
