From April 5th 2009 Fullmetal Alchemist begins it's second series, a new storyline told from the very beginning of the Elric Brothers' adventure.

As requested by Solitaire, Series 2 gets it's own thread, so if you wish to discuss the events of Series 1 or the OVA's, please use the current Series 1 thread for posting in. You can find the links above. In the same way, if you wish to discuss the Movie please take it to the Movie Thread.

Usually rules apply. No spamming or one-liners, and spoilers absolutely must be put in Spoiler Tags. Now, I personally can't wait for this to begin, and I know a lot of other people feel the same ^^

Meh, the idea that you should have seen another series to get things in what's essentially a remake is ludicrous imo. But whatever, I'm having fun.

Haven't read the manga, and honestly don't plan to. Doesn't mean I won't if a friend had it and decided to loan it, but it's not something I'm going to put on my to read to list. It takes a lot for me to read a manga of anime I'm watching these days. And the closer the anime is to the manga, the less likely I am to do so.

Yeah the first 25 episodes are why I recommend watching the original series first. Brotherhood just doesn't cover it because they expect you to have already seen it. Really hurts Hughes character development. Gonna start hammering through the original series today then move onto brotherhood again.

The early criticisms of how it's speeding through already covered territory pales when you get knee deep into the manga plots, in my opinion. It's still apt for people who like the first series and remember it clearly. For me, instead of feeling the first series was more thoughtful in dishing out the big stuff, it NOW feels like it's just milking it haha. Brotherhood dishes it out and keeps it going.

Plus, fluid animation and everything <3.

I like the brotherhood series better than the original, more action I suppose. The animation here is alot more smoother and more comedy

Watched ep 2 last night.

Been too long since I've watched the first series and while I appreciate the fact this is a stronger adaptation of the manga I personally think ep two is a bit too soon to get into the WTF of the black door and massive eye (don't recall if it was the same in the original series hitting that soon, I want to say it wasn't).

They should do a third series where it's just him. Don't even care what it's about.

Armstrong never ceases to entertain.

Gotenks wishes he was Armstrong.

The original series does a way better job of telling the pre-Rush Valley stuff so I would start with the original. It really doesn't matter though, you'll dislike the ending of the original so I would start with that so it can be redeemed by Brotherhood.

All I know is that neither series has enough Armstrong. Never enough.

I forgot this is one of the 2 animes I have on DVD
need to rewatch this sometime for nostalgia for FMA being my first anime I watched as an actual anime XD

I know Gotenks would be proud of me that my DVD series are FMAB and TTGL

Oh, I do plan on watching both of them Mister MacPhisto. Just several of my friends say watch Brotherhood and not to watch the original. Just trying to figure out if I should do Brotherhood first or do the original first then Brotherhood.
