Discuss movies you've watched and would like to watch.
I haven't watched anything since I watched Hitman nearly 3 weeks ago. The movie was average in my opinion, nothing really stood out to me. I've never played the games so I think that will have helped the scoring of the movie. Rarely do games become good movies.
I really want to watch The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button. I've heard great things about it and bad things as well.
I think 2008 was a pretty poor year for epic action movies, I'm hoping for better this year. The likes of The Dark Knight and Wanted being probably the best. Unless I am missing others. I've been looking at video games recently and noticing how the great storylines are all going into them. I'd love to see the video game 'Legendary' made into a movie although sorting out the storyline a bit would be a must. But the action sequences would be out of this world. I'm missing the over the top action the likes of which The Matrix brought us. The thought provoking nature of such movies, including the brilliant and classic Vanilla Sky and Fight Club to Edward Norton's more recent The Illusionist. The movies that really make you think. If you have any thought provoking movies, then please share, I absolutely love the mental stimulation.
Now discuss the wonderful life we enjoy when sitting in front of that magical square box. As we escape reality even for just a couple of hours.

I really want to see RED, looks great.
And yeah, the story was pretty crap, among other things. I guess I just have low expectations when it comes to films like that. xD

I agree with Saul, The Expendables did exactly what I expected it to do, be a shit action film with lots of celebrity cameos. I rented it and the DVD box had Bruce Willis' and Arnold Schwarzenegger's names in big letters on the front. What happened? Well Willis was in it for one scene, Arnie was in it for half of that scene.
Also, just because Stone Cold Steve Austin was in it, what the *bleep* was with all the wrestling moves thrown in?! That's not how people *bleep*ing fight!
At the same time as renting The Expendables, I rented RED, which was a far better action movie.

The Expendables is a horrible movie. It's one of those movies that would've been a classic if it was made back in the day when technology wasn't as good as it is right now. Plus, if all the action stars were actually in their prime rather than being pensioners. The storyline is terrible as well. RED is much better movie in probably every aspect. The cast isn't quite as glamorous but it's a hell of a lot funnier, the storyline is more enjoyable as well. Bruce Willis still looks great for his age, Sylvester Stallone doesn't look like a convincing action star any more.
I really, really didn't like The Expendables, I found it to be a complete waste of my time, and I actually loved the casting; Jason Statham, Jet Li, Steve Austin playing the bad guy. I was expecting something epic. It made me wonder what was possessing me to watch RED after I'd been let down by the other group of action legends, but yeah, much better.
Not many people agree with me though, and that's fine. Most agree in the sense that it's a poor movie but state "for what it is, it's a good movie" and that's where I still disagree. It's the same tired storyline that appears in all Stallone's action movies, but this time there's less incentive. I mean he's mainly doing it for some ugly chick he's just met.
And now to wipe away any credibility behind my opinion, I really want to see Sucker Punch. Over the top action, CGI, and totally impossible and unimaginable events. I just love those kinds of movies because it lets me escape into fantasy for a couple of hours.

Memento Mori
Expendables was great at the cinema. But I watched it again a while back, and while it wasn't bad, a lot of the impact of it was lost.
I certainly know it will probably be a while before I think about watching it again; it's definitely not one of those films that you can watch over and over again.

I like this thread so here's a shameless bump.
Anyone seen any films, enjoyable or otherwise? Recently watched The Expendables, which was quite good for what it was. Nice action flick for a night in, epic cast imo (Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a hilarious brief appearance). So yeah, discussion!
