Is there a trick to beating some races that i am missing?
I started with the Lotus, But got to the point where it had no chance in the races i had open, So i broke down and used MS points to buy a Skyline (i was short 25,000 in game cash, and didn't want to replay races fro $200 each a ton).
Both cars have all the unlocked performance mods (Street level).
In most races i can get into the lead, and widen the gap quite a bit... But then i watch the guy in 2nd slowly catch up, and sooner or later (about midway through the race) they are right on my ass. I try to defend the position, but they eventually get past me and are pretty much gone after that. I can see them up ahead, but i can't catch up.
I am trying to beat the 1st master event (gold coast to ocean), but at least one car (a porsche) is a lot quicker then my skyline, even though i drive nearly perfectly and don't wreck/slow down.
Any advice? anything i am missing that might be holding me back?

start with a nissan 240sx.then max it up through the races.until you get the audi le mans(aka the r8)buy the r8 when you unlock it.

the audi is probably the best car that you can get at the beginning and when its upgraded you could probably use it later in the game

Hmm.....I remember being in this jam before.......uhh....
Get the Audi. That should take you to the r8, and after that, you're gone. (unless that audi IS the r8 lol)

You could try completing the Jobs and get the Audi(Pink Slip) and then try the races .The Audi is a really good car during it's time.
