So I finally beat this game but I'm confused about the story.

I understand that wander went into the forbidden lands to get Dormin to bring his girlfriend back from the dead, and that the group of guys came to stop him from ressurrecting Dormin. But I don't understand how wander got turned into a baby.

Am I missing something?

Also, is this game a sequel to this Ico game I keep hearing about. If so, what is Ico about and is it worth playing?

idk if this is being posted so if it is....
I just recently started playing this game. i have beaten it the first time through and am working on normal time attack mode. the storyline i got out of the game is that the man with the mask in the clip after the eleventh colossus is the person in charge of the "sacrifice" in Ico. I'm not sure about the girl but i believe that SotC is truly a prequel to Ico and not a sequel. The story that I wish to know and is possible to do in the game is the village or town that this boy came from.

please don't scoff, i just want to know.

I'm pretty sure the developers having confirmed that SotC is set before Ico. Specically, the main character from SotC is the first of the "horned boys" - Ico being one of his descendants.

You can assume that at some point the Wanderer grows up and either he or his children manage to escape from the sealed area - probably by sea.

I personally haven't played Ico, I may well do in the future. But SotC works just fine as an isolated story, and there are a number of different interpretations about what goes on.
Mainly due to the dialogue being pretty thin on the ground, the images we see speak a lot louder than words in this game. Small details like Wander's appearance steadily deteriorating, the tragic music that plays when a Colossus dies, the brief cutscenes that pop up every now and then all point to the fact that something is very wrong - then it all comes to a head when you face Malus and both Wander and the player realise simultaneously that not only was the quest not worth it, but that killing these living works of art was an evil thing and Wander is forever cursed by his actions.
The ending throws another curveball at us, which again was hinted at throughout, but I imagine that the majority of players would be inclined not to believe that the game would really end so tragically. There is a glimmer of optimism though when we see Mono, Agro and the infant Wander make their way into the Secret Garden to begin a new life together. It seems pretty bleak - Agro is seriously crippled, Mono has no idea that the baby is the man she loved who went to the ends of the earth to revive her, Wander himself still owes a debt for what he did - but how can you feel low whilst listening to that incredible credits theme?

I don't think it will be explained, because it's deliberately done so that people can draw their own conclusions on what happened. I don't think he wants a solidified story, if he did he'd be telling it with sequels and stuff. I think he's got his own ideas that he's presenting to us, so that we can form what we believe to be the story.

Short answer: no.

Long answer: maybe someday the developer will come up with a more detailed plotline or at least outline what the lead developer's personal interpretation is. I'd not hold my breath for it though, they deliberately made it vague and I don't see them changing their stance any time soon.

Side note: They are supposed to be making a SotC movie which might have a more concrete plot. However, that might be the writer/director/producer's view of the game rather than the developer's.

They're all connected in a vague way, they're in the same universe. But they're all different games.
