The FFVII forum has the love-triangle between Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith and we all know that debate has been done to death. But since Crisis Core's release the thread has added Zack into the mix, and it's nice having something new to discuss in the love-triangle. So I thought I'd bring some of the discussion over into this forum. (though this question mostly applies to people who have also played FFVII and/or watched AC).
So who do you think Aerith really loves by the end of AC? Zack? Cloud? Both? (or maybe Tseng ) Do you she was fond of Zack for a while, but she loved Cloud much more? Or do you think she always loved Zack and was still waiting for him even in FFVII?

same here, never played it, only CC and watched ACC (the 'prove' of Zerith )... And CC gave me time to cry as much as a newborn baby for 3 days in a row...
The only thing that bugs me Zack new hair style I want his old hair style back lol.
that bugs me too, he looks like a badboy with that hair.. and scar.. One other thing that bugs me is ...how can Zack died by 1000+ infrantrymen? he had done that once (mission), and he even could punch GODDESS with his Costly Punch D:

To me, frankly there is no question who she loves, it's Zack without a shred of doubt. The telling clue is he asks her to wear pink for the next time they meet and she continues to wear pink ever since - rather than going back to her original style. She's still waiting...
Aerith + Cloud only exists in a player's imagination since it's a neutral state determined by the love point system in FFVII imo. At most you have a cute, innocent little date scene and then Aerith dies. Meanwhile Cloud molds his entire life about impressing Tifa, may choose Tifa as his love interest instead of Aerith, and even may share snu-snu with Tifa on the eve of the final battle (which leads Tifa to be cutely embarrassed come morning).
In a FFVII vacuum, it is far more attractive to think Cloud changed his mind and Aerith loved him since her death makes the story more powerful and poignant, but Crisis Core and even Advent Children give (to me) unequivocal evidence Aerith loves and is with Zack.
Besides, Cloud's story makes more sense now if he follows in the footsteps of Zack and too becomes a hero for Tifa, the girl he's been pining for since childhood.
Regardless, thank you Square for making these great games. Crisis Core's handling of every scene shot it up to my favorite game I've ever played without a doubt.

Well, if you think of the fact that this is a game, and characters emotions are also partly based on how you interpret them, she could love whoever you decide her to love more, because it was not bluntly stated she loved either more.

Zack was stronger then Cloud... Cloud was stronger in Advent Children where he beat Sephiroth all by himself (well, sort of) and not with the help his two party members. Zack wasn't "bitch slapped" he held his own against Sephiroth and then got pushed down a flight of stairs. He did more then Cloud could do by himself at that time and if it was Cloud in FF7. And so what, Cloud got stabbed in the chest, Zack was shot multiple times in his chest and still managed to slaughter solider. Zack wasn't killed by a bunch of infantrymen, Zack was killed after destroying a militia of infantrymen and three helicopters. FYI, Cloud would never reach level 100, the limit is 99. Secondly, don't act like Cloud kicked Sephiroth's ass, all he did was pick him up and throw him into a pit. Last, but not least! Cloud is nothing without Zack. Because of Zack, Cloud is the person people know and love. Watch the director's cut of Advent Children where Cloud got his ass kicked fighting Sephiroth. Who came to help motivate little ol' Cloud? Oh, yeah Zack. Use your brain.
As for the love triangle? Watch Advent Children and pay attention during the scene Aerith and Zack are talking about Cloud when he's floating and watch the ending. Boom, question resolved.
But of course, this is just my opinion, we're all entitled to them, but we are also entitled to challenge them as well.

Personally i think that if u played FFVII over and over and over and over again, u know that Clouds love interest depends on the choices u make. For instance if u treat Aerith a certain way shes not in love with Cloud, treat her another way and she is in love with him. Same with Tifa. Like if u choose to take Tifa in the Cosmo Canyon Observatory u get a scene between Tifa and Cloud that is obviously hinting at love. U get the same feeling if u take Aerith also.
Also remember that Cloud doesnt speak in FFVII so the writers have allowed the players imagination to run wild and fill in the gaps. Whereas in CC and AC the story is told to u so there are less gaps to fill. U get a very clear answer from CC...Aerith and Zack are in love. In AC not so much and imo that is due to the fans, over the years fans went crazy for Zerith and Clerith so they purposely left this topic up to the imagination of the fans.
Imo i think what happens in CC is irrelevant because FFVII is after it. There is definately a love interest between Cloud and Aerith (depending on how u play the game) and SE intended to get this message across. The reason Tifa is jealous is because she sees it too ( and also because urve favored Aerith). So the gamer cant know in any way know for sure who Aerith loved more or who Cloud loves more and the SE intended this as they are not stupid and know how to tell a story.
CG doesnt really say much either. The scene at the end can be interpretated in many ways, and i think SE did this so the fans could decide themselves and connect whatever dots they wanted.
All in all i think ppl have to realize FFVII is its own entity and say it had any definitive answer regarding who Aerith loves more comes down to a misunderstanding of what the game was. There is no answer
If zack is stronger than cloud then why did zack die? I mean first of all when was a soldier and cloud was an infantrymen, sephiroth bitch slapped zack and that was it for him, whereas cloud was stabbed thru the chest, not only survived but, got rid of sephiroth with a quick flick of the wrist. Not to mention zack was killed by a bunch of infantrymen. Im pretty sure cloud at lvl 100 would have just got rid of them all with a simple spell or summon. Use ur brain dude

Snake: Wrong, Aerith had known Zack died. Remember she could told Elmyra about her husband's death? She is Cetra, and in CC, we can see how she felt the strange feeling when Zack was dying.
Aerith is independent, she don't wanna be looked pity, she's always look cheers; so she just made a denial about Zack ran away with new girlfriend.

The thing is love and love Aerith even in FFVII zack. Reasons: first release FFVII CC Aerith Zack mentioned much by direct comparison to Claud, is also mentioned when they are in his hometown of Banora Zack. and he is mentioned on many occasions throughout the game, and stand Claud that bothers you. Another reason he was destined to kill Zack and Aerith from the beginning of history, Aerith dies in FFVII and FFVII it essentially is a secret where they show Zack's death. which means that these two characters were disposable and combisystems beginning. other thing was that Aerith never knew what happened to Zack, she did not know that he had died, had always believed that the left with another girl, this was designed in the book which shows that she dies and meets Zack, so it was a reason to hate him and want to really know Claud. She loved and still loves Zack in FFVII though it took almost 5 years since he learned of it. nothing to correct, in FFVII AC protects her constantly that she wants to Claud and appreciated but not too olbidad Zack helps Aerith with them two being together, and at the end of the game shows them together. Zack somehow stop time between his soul and vital power to be with Aerith. both dead?? FFVII is not surprising that we emphasize both Aerith and Zack together even after death
true Claud Aerith fell in love but in large part because Zack was a lot like she is confused by his feelings for Zack but hate leaving.
the thing is that if Aerith would not be possible would be with Claud dead but she was found dead and AC point and show them together saying goodbye to Zack and Claud Arrith it clear that they are together at last.
It remains concerned by Claud like Zack grab it because they are your friends, remember him very reminiscent Claud up at the same zack zack not only Aerith, Claud is not forgiven for letting Aerith die and the repetition of occurrences of Aerith in dreams Claud Claud is for not more so s eculpe to have peace.
At the end when he does that is dismissed with Zack de Claud. so things are.

Well in reality aerith loves zack, cloud was like a brother but cloud thought he loved and still does cuz he still thinks he is zack and was a soldier the idiot hes way weaker than zack and doesnt have aeriths love play crisis core and ull see
