About Cloud, there are a few things I don't understand.
1)Both Zack and Cloud were in those Mako containers for four years. Then how come Cloud couldn't recover instantly like Zack?
2)Cloud was also a target of Shin-Ra, just like Zack. Then how come he wasn't killed, and how come he became a SOLDIER operative?
3)After Zack being killed by Shin-Ra, why on earth did Cloud go back to join them?
4)In the ending, we see Cloud on a train. Is that the train that Cloud gets down from in the beginning of FFVII? (I know this can't be coz in VII, Cloud is referred to as an Ex-SOLDIER. But nevertheless, I'm a bit confused.)

Hehe I seem to be alone on this topic. Playing through FFVII again has just reminded me that Cloud

worked as a terrorist and was responsible for people dying in the reactor explosions, as well as the other soldiers. He didn't give a second thought for them either. Terrorist and murderer are not good qualities for a game hero in my opinion.
But no doubt he's an interesting character...

I believe it was the tagline to Platoon, but it may have been a different war film. "The first casualty of war is innocence", just seemed fairly apt in context of what Katie said

I expected him to act more like an adult. Zack did and he was only 16. Sephiroth was only 25 but acted like he was about 40. I guess going to war makes you grow up quickly. Cloud just seemed really childish.

I never liked how Sephiroth so overshadowed cloud in this game. Cloud didn't get the awards and such I believed he deserved. It was odd at this time to have the main hero be so royally screwed up, but CC made him look like such an... idiot... But at least that idiot was able to get the respect of Zack early on and keep it.
Random fact about Cloud: Born in Nibelheim and grew up with Tifa.

I like cloud for all the reasons you dislike him.
As he so eloquently put, each person their wasnt there to save the world, they were there to save someone or something dear to them, they ALL had their own specific reasons for being there.
None of them were in it just for the sake of saving the planet.
Cloud has the persona of the weak underdog who becomes stronger then anyone can imagine.
He always comes out on top, no matter what the odds are.
Kinda like goku.
