I've had this problem for a GBA, an SP, a DS Lite, & an original DS. Blowing into the shoulder buttons doesn't work either, and the fastest one to break was the GBA. It barely lasted 2 months before the bumpers started acting up, 4 months before it completely conked out. The longest lasting one was the GBA: SP, at 2 years, bought used, before the bumbers started acting up. And it was the one in my pocket the most. I think there is a design defect somewhere in them. Otherwise the problem shouldn't happen in 4 seperate system types...

I had that same problem with my DSI, i fixed it by just spraying some WD-40 in it, those buttons get clogged up all the time with lint and stuff.

best way to fix it is lift up the button and blow hard. it wont fix it for good but its the cheapest way to fix it...

My DS lite had that problem about 1 minute ago. I looked around for solution and I found one, I kid you not, I was playing again with the L and R button in 15 seconds. Form a perfect seal with your lips around the L or R button, and blow on it. This gets all the dirt out of the areas you can't clean. No more repair bills, and it works great!

Lol, mine too, BUT I found the solution, pop the button it self out of the ds, it's merely there for looks, BELIEVE ME it's alright, there's a little round button underneath, actually you'll see Bronze and the tip of a green thing with things you don't need to worry about, just press that instead of the original "L" button.
