Methods of adding backgrounds: 1. By using the Wallpaper feature of the PSP (Removes XMB waves). 2. By editing the bitmap file in flash0 (Leaves XMB waves intact)(Requires Custom Firmware).
How to add backgrounds by Wallpaper feature 1. Copy image to MemStick:\PSP\PHOTO folder or MemStick:\PICTURE folder. (No resolution barriers. Image will be scaled.) 2. Go to Photo -> Memory Stick(TM) in PSP. 3. Go to your image. 4. Press triangle. 5. Select Set as Wallpaper. (In case the image is not displayed, follow step 6 onwards.) 6. Go to System -> Theme Settings. 7. Select Wallpaper. 8. Select Use.
How to add background by editing bitmap image in flash0(Requires Custom Firmware) 1. Boot PSP into Recovery Menu. (Hold R-trigger while booting PSP.) 2. Go to Advanced. 3. Select Toggle USB (flash0) and connect USB cable. 4. Go to VSH folder. 5. Go to Resource folder. 6. You should see a file named 01-12.bmp. (Slim also has 13-27.bmp. Thanks Entropy!) 7. Keep a backup of this file and delete it. 8. Now you should prepare your image. It should have a resolution lesser than 480x272 and should be a 24 colour bitmap. 9. Save the image as 01-12.bmp and copy it here. 10. Disable USB and exit recovery menu. 11. You would see a white background. 12. Go to System -> Theme Settings. 13. Select Theme. 14. Select your newly flashed background. Guide by StarJet905
