Anyone else fine these almost impossible to do with the Hidden Blade? Whenever I stab someone, half a second later it goes onto alert and a I fail, the only way I can do them is by using the throwing Knives from Rooftops.

I never had that problem. I normally walk up behind and killed, quickly walk away then run when you're far enough..
It works fine even in a crowded area..

You can't do it in high-profile- make sure you aren't holding R1 before you do it! It also helps to take a look around with the eagle vision before walking up to the guy, to check for any guards' general position. Then, as the others said, just blend and walk away once you've killed him.
In addition, make sure you check for near-by guards before doing something high profile, like climbing or running- if they are "informed," they will attack and you'll fail the mission. Don't go punching people either.

blaziken92 is right, the key to is blend IMMEDIATELY after killing and never returning to the body. AS slow as you walk in blend, get out of there ASAP. dont wait for him to fall, just go.
I never had trouble with the amount of time, so dont really worry about the time. I think I had AT LEAST 1:00 left on each of them.

The trick is, as soon as you kill them, either immediately go into a Blend (Hold X), or Gentle Push away from the body.
The most important rule, is never walk back towards the body, otherwise you'll be recognised.
