That can be pretty tricky but don't give up. I promise it's not as hard as it looks at first. My advice is go through it and collect all the very useful items and then exit and go do all the sidequests.
It is a very good time to pretty much go and do every sidequest in the game.
I always thought it was ironic when i foundlost number.

Thanks guys!
I'm now on the 3rd disk, and I'm where the barrier over the Northern Cave was broken and we flew the airship over there and now I'm in it, but I keep getting lost. :/

Duh, you already beat Lost Number, i was going to tell a cool trick to do so.
Well, for the record i'll tell it anyway:
You can manipulate in which form he transforms: If you attack him with magical attacks in the beginning, he will transform into the magical form. If you attack him with lots of physical attacks in the beginning, he will transform into the physical form.
His physical form is insanely powerful and fast, he has a Double Cut, that takes 1400 HP in total, and a heavy hit that takes 2200.
So the strategy should be to attack him with your strongest magical attacks in the beginning, and unleash your Limit Breaks as soon as he transforms into the magical form. (which takes only about 400 HP with its Fire2, Ice2 and so on.)
I don't have to mention, that you should have as many Restore = All combos as possible, do i?

Junon's closer than Kalm, but still pretty far away from where you are. I wouldn't bother going all the way back just for a Bio Materia.

Oh geez. Kalm is WAY far away.
Meh. I'll try to find some. HP plus, MP plus? Okay.
I'll try it. Thanks. :]

If you got the gil, go back to Cosmo Canyon and buy HP Plus and MP Plus materia. I make sure all my characters have at least one of each.

That's a shame. I reckon if you level up around 25-27, then that'll make the battle alot easier. I was around that level when I first fought him.
Bio materia can be bought at the Kalm Materia Store and the Lower Junon Materia Store, so it's a fair walk away from Nibelheim. You don't need the Bio Materia, though it does come in handy in battle.

Oh my godd! I used all your advice and got Lost Number to 1000 hp, then it started healing itself and killed me. :/
Um.. I accidentally sold my poison materia in the last town, do you know if theres another place I can buy another one?

For Lost Number ...
Lost Number is a tough boss for this part of the game and alot of people get caught out by him.
If you have the Bio materia, then use it at the start of the battle. That should poison Lost Number and gradually eat away at his HP. If you have Aerith's "Seal Evil" limit break that can also come in handy, as it Silences and Paralyzes all enemies.
After that, just start bashing away at Lost Number with your strongest attacks/magic. Use Aerith's "Seal Evil" whenever you get the chance. Also, Summon "Choco/Mog" to cause damage and possibly re-paralyze Lost Number.
Eventually one of his "sides" will die.
If the Purple side dies, you will fight the Red side. If the Red side dies, you will fight the Purple side. The Red is strong against magic, so use physical attacks against it. The Purple side is strong against physical attacks, so use magic against it.
Don't use any Fire attacks against him, because he absorbs them all. It's also handy to have your Enemy Skill materia equipped, because you can learn his "Trine" ability.
Cast Bio at the start of the battle, this will poison him and start eating away at his HP.
It's handy to have one character as your "healer", because Materia Keeper's attacks can cause alot of damage to your party, especially if he attacks twice in a row. So whenever somebody gets attacked, have your healer cast Cure (or Cure-All if you've got it) on them ASAP.
Other than that, just bash the crap out of him with your strongest magic/attacks/limits.
Also, when Materia Keeper's HP get's low he will start healing himself, (which is a pain), so be wary of that.
