Personally, I have no strong feeling one way or another as to an actual system. However, with the state of things in this forum, whatever is decided upon has to be kept with those who are currently active. So if someone hasn't posted in several months or over a year, there's really no point. I like what Fyre said about clearing out the ghosts and not bringing up the old guard.

Anything that is decided upon must be based on current and active Emcees. And updated regularly. This won't work if you or whoever is helping keep this organized suddenly dissappears off the planet, Fyre (a syndrome that is contagious here. )

Also, I want to know along with this Rankings System what's going to happen to the Feather and Middle Belts. Should they be retired or...because I don't think there's a point or a reason, personally, in having them if the champions have left the site and there's no real body of challengers to compete for it.

I could be way way wrong here, and If someone wiser and more experienced than I has some imput to that, I'd be glad. But those are some things I would like addressed if we're going to open this dialouge.

That's what i'm saying, the current body of Emcees really doesn't allow for divisions per say. I do agree about them being part of the forum's history, but history can be preserved.

With regards to the rankings, though, that's going to be a big question that needs to be answered if they are going to continue to be a part of things, as far as how I see things anyway.

the_REAL_zwarrior oh, I certainly don't intend to implement divisions in the rankings . If we can I'd like to keep the feather and middle titles, but they'd just be battled for by more up and comer emcees, not given full divisions. However placement is decided, the rankings will probably look like they do now.

Jake Rockwell I agree that we don't really need rankings, but I don't think we've ever really needed rankings, not really. I do want to clarify that unless I get some wiiiide contention on this, then whatever ranking system we use is going to be divisionless, a single list, with no "You have to beat da feather champ, and be da feather champ, to get to middleweight..." logistics. We're just gonna do one plain ladder, and if there's not much interest in it I'll find a simple way to run it - maybe just keep it as it is but add a clean-out feature based on attendance - and run it unobtrusively while y'all go abouts your rap battling business. Since the belts aren't tied to the rankings, with the exception of I guess we would decide priority on heavy title shots using it if need be, it's a separate issue, and I'd like to shake down and clean up the rankings first of all, as they stink worse for going stale. Primarily, if there's like, any interest at all, I'd just like to know what should decide emcee rank in principle: a system with numbers, a numberless but logical system of "I beat this guy so I go above him" and so on, or opinion which is somewhat subjective (but then so are votes) decided by one or more senior panel-like people?

As for the belts, I dunno if I'd want to retire them in a big way, as that just feels faintly depressing as a thought. I'd probably just mark them vacant/inactive so they're clearly shelved but easy to bring back if called for. Anyway, if that's a vote of "Not interested in rankings at present", that's a legit stance .

Forget a rankings system, Jake's the champ and it's only worth keeping one belt, so he should decide if people are decent enough to challenge him. I mean it's not as though he's clueless to who could and couldn't give him a decent battle, and I doubt he'd turn down anyone to protect himself. That's the only thing a ranking matters for, everyone else can just battle at will. And if someone really wants to go at Jake but isn't good enough for a title shot, then it can be a non title match. It's easy pimpin'.

I'm on Google Chrome, can get into some threads with no bother but when I click on some (Rhyme With Us being the latest example), I get a malware threat detected. What's the deal? Anyone else had this?

People got older and moved on and nobody new came in.

Potential correlation between the two?
