Forced Listening Thread

Lupe Fiasco:
The beat had a funky tint, the chipmunk faux scratched chorus was pretty annoying and Lupe's just Lupe, interesting in small doses.

Virtuoso:
The beat sounds Stoupish, and the lyrics sounded Pazish to some extent, like a gruff canibus, smack talk, wasn't terrible just not something I'd listen to by choice.

That Trance Track:
Sounds like a lot of trance tracks but i can appreciate the melodic drop circa 59, spine tinglins. Not really my genre so no disrespect.

Grip Grand:
Grip must be "down with the band called diggin' in the crates": props. However more chipmunk malarky, the hook is harmonic, twista style spittings, interesting lyrics, appendixes, this song is alllright by me.

Nas:
This was produced by some bloke named DJ Premier, and this geezer named Nas is spitting Cormega's memories as if they're his own... possibly. I kid of course, pretty dope.

Dutch's track was smoothly enjoyable, Judas's was enjoyably smooth (just noticed Ugly Duckling on the last page also, super props), trzw's Craig Mack jaunt made me go away and listen to the Special Delivery rmx.

I watched it in the Cut but forgot to comment, I enjoyed it's flows and sound quality. Keep going.

Pumping nuthin' but utter destruction. The Jesus adlib made me laugh.
The beat is on some science fiction outback business, road warrior.

Magical stuff.

Vado- Big L magicianship. l u l at him using toothpicks and auderves in the same sentance when that's like Juelz's most memorable line. He's sounding less like Santana nowerdays though, good for him.

Ransom- Beefed with Joe Budden and lost so I'm not sure what to say, don't like the guy much but the beat is pretty gully.

Lazarus- Dude sounds like Ali Vegas. I like Ali Vegas, whatever happened to Ali Vegas?

Styles P- That whole album is ridiculous, lot of Alchemist, glad to see something here that I know all the words to.

Paris- is a Public Enemy flunky and it comes through in his music.

Joell- I have this track, it is good, I like Ortiz. I find it interesting that he left Aftermath and then signed to Shady a couple years later, we'll see his debut album Nevuary 86.

Termanology- I trust you have the Termanology/Dilla mixtape, it's good. This track is a Preemoriffic good time. He's of Latino descent which means he can use the secret word.

Saigon- Beefed with Joe Budden and lost so I don't know what to say. His affiliation with Just Blaze harnassed an album that will never see release. This song is okay.

Crustation: This track reminded me of Where Do I Begin... you know a lady singing over some trip hop.
Radiohead: Twas rather flames, now I know what album it's from I shall dig further.
Broken Bells: Dangermouse is wasting valuable time and effort.

Pickles and Peanut butter. After a straight hour of Anamaguchi chiptune madness I was expecting that track to be standard rap garbage. Alas, the beat had a neat level of depth to it and dude was entertaining. I might search out some more of his music, might need some recoms, find me on the usual channels.

I like this song alot, at first I thought the usually brilliant Cam dropped the ball but now he's my favourite part, shame on Pharell for not turning up for the video.

Is this a Premo joint by any chance? I'd guess so, it's good and Ortiz is the man so this joint is a winner. Wonder how it feels to leave Aftermath then come crawling back to Shady.

2 halves of the incredible rap team.
I like Rock, I like Ruck, never been a fan of their beat choices. This has a faux metal bangy thing going on and a "yeah" hook I like, the verses are memorable.

El capitan got said, which is nice. Another track with a Premo esque hook, hopefully he didn't make the track though because that piano is borderline annoying to me. And AZ's just plain old AZ, acceptable.

Hard not to compare this dude to Shady when he has the Guilty Conscience style intro. And Dre horns. Dude sounds more like Big Boi though, which is dope, this track is flammable, then the second dude turns up and straight up sounds like Nikki Minaj, gtfoh.

Big K.R.I.T:
Okayplayer have been upping this guy for a year or so, this is the first song I have heard. (Pretty sure Kanye said "could have bought my way to heaven but got a necklace"... not to take anything away from this lad, may have been a homage). I approve of this song, a lot, to the point where I may investigate him further.

Curren$y:
Alchemist has UNMISTAKEABLE BASS. You already know how I feel about Covert Coup, shit's doper than even the Fashawn ALC jawn. I like Gibbs like I like 50 Cent.

2Pac:
This dude is whack. I prefer Ja Rule... for serious.

Azad Right:
It might be that I like the Coldplay joint but this track is pretty flames, dude's like Blu, which is fine. I enjoy.

Earl Sweatshirt:
Odd Future's third best over Madlib's ALL CAPS, can't complain but I'm throwing the original on right after.
