Buying a *good* new guitar

Hello y'all. I've been playing guitar for a few years, I have a black biscayne acoustic and a beguinner's Aria electric.

Anyways, my dad told me that he was going to buy me a new electric guitar and amp (which will help me a lot in my gigs since the Aria one sucks).

I have to pic k a good and long-lasting one (since Im not getting a new one for a couple of years).

Any suggestions for a guitar and amp?

We're going to buy it in Villa Music.

It all depends on your price range mainly and that I can't work that website for hell because it only shows one guitar, one amp and one bass.

Hehe. Yeah I just knoticed... weird. Why'd they make the site in English anyway? There's only one store and its in Puerto Rico (The Caribbean). But its huuuge.

The price range: anything that doesnt pass 2,000.

So you can obviously afford stuff then...

Why not go for a signature guitar, like a Kirk Hammet lTD or a Dave Mustane ESP Flying V, I don't know what they have in the shop that you're getting the stuff from so I dunno if they have any of these but there's one thing I would recommend if they have it... a Jackson KV2 (King V) ...Looks the shit, has awesome pickups and stuff so it sounds good. Or I doubt it's in your price range even there but a Zakk Wylde Les Paul, might not be a Gibson, maybe an Epi seeing as they're cheap but yeah, I dunno.

Naw, Forte no likey signature guitars because well, he just doesn't.

You have cash. Go out and buy something nice for yourself. I'd reckon split the money 3/4 for the guitar and 1/4 for the amp (you can get a nice tube for 500 I think, maybe a lower end Mesa Boogie.)

I dunno really what style you're playing but I'll assume just regular coolio rock stuff. Methinks a nice Ibanez prestige would be pretty nice or perhaps a Gibson Flying V? I dunno really, Les Pauls generally go for around 2400ish and Fender Strat regulars go for about 750ish maybe? I personally would buy myself a pretty Ibanez Prestige RGT (neckthru construction) because well, yeah.

Amps are more easy to choose methinks. For 500ish, I'm quite sure you can maybe get a nice 50W tube amp maybe by Laney. I'd just recommend to stay away from Fender tubes though since to me, they sound like the biggest piles of shit I've ever heard. I haven't had too much experience with Marshalls, but I don't really like them. =/ To me, I'd go for either a Mesa Boogie Tube (maybe a bit out of your price) or a Laney Tube. Solid states are okay I guess, as long as you churn distortion out through a pedal. This way you may be able to get a 100W for 500. I dunno though.
