All of the super important stuff is underlined.
As you approach the limit in your thread, consider ideas for making the next version in your portfolio and try to have it all organized by the time the 30th page is reached. You will be responsible for creating every new edition of your portfolio. If you are gone and your portfolio reaches 30 pages, it will be closed with a PM sent for your notification upon return. This doesn't mean anything you did was wrong, it's just that there is no purpose in keeping the thread open if you're not there to respond to any criticism/post new material.
Finally, a possible option to managing the length of these threads would be to prune unnecessary/redundant comments from other users, or merging various content posts together. If I decide to do this, I'd need your input for any content merging unless you wish to take it upon yourself.
What was this:
[Musician Portfolio] SuperMetallicDragontrip6 (just bought new vibrating metronome, videos posted)
Would become this:
[Musician Portfolio] SuperMetallicDragontrip6
Just bought new vibrating metronome, videos posted
This will also keep your original post from being flooded with many instances of "this message was edited by etcetc on *this date*" at the bottom.
You can tell me when and how to update your Portfolio's thread caption anyway you want. A PM would be much more detailed in terms of what you want added and what you want removed, and I'd absolutely see it. You could also make instructions with any update you make in the thread itself.
Of course, you could also just edit your original thread title in much the same way some of you were already doing. In that case I will edit in much the same way as the example. Regardless of if that was your intent or not. Don't let that stop you from doing it, though. It actually makes my job very much streamlined.
Creating your Portfolio is simple enough.
Create a new thread, and for the title you must indicate that your thread is a Portfolio by placing either "[Musician Profile]" or "[Musician Portfolio]" at the beginning of the thread title. As well, also indicate your user name, your real life name, your band's name...any of the combination above, so long as it is relevant to the content you are posting.
For example, any of the following would be acceptable:
As for the content within, that is largely for you to decide so long as it is all relevant to your music playing.
Tell us what instruments you play, your gear, your software, all of that. Pictures are welcome, but it'd be appreciated by many of the membership if you were to conceal large (over 800x600p images) within [spoiler] tags.
What you would benefit from personally, though, is if you were to post content of you actually playing. Video is the most obvious choice, and easy considering you can embed youtube videos using [youtube] tags. I will look into additional methods for getting your creations out there and heard.
And finally, do not create duplicate Portfolios, for any reason.
I'll try and keep this short. If you are commenting on anything in a user's portfolio, bear this in mind:
Index of Portfolios (as of Sunday, June 14th, 2009):
An index of all the Portfolios I could find within reason. If yours is not listed here, be sure to notify me somehow.
Update: The older, plainer index has been marked up for easier browsing. Your eye thanks Vector.
