The NSL was scrapped because a majority of the clubs ran themselves into the ground with a shit load of debt because they were trying to become immediate champions rather than building a sustainable club and infrastructure. Clubs like the Brisbane Strikers, Marconi Stallions and Parramatta Power all racked up major debts, meaning they were unable to pay wages, etc. The fans were the least of the problem, but they've probably suffered the most since the inception of the A-League. 	i'm not totally convinced about Federici a few years ago (ie 08) i thought he was the future of Australian goalkeeping (with Schwarzer on teh way out) but Schwarzer's had a twilight and Langerak seems to be stepping up i think Schwarzer will pass on the baton to Langerak, leaving Federici as number 2 Langerak seems to have really developed with Dortmund, playing a stormer against Bayern a while back

	Roar beat Mariners 1-0, with Nicols scoring Roar tried to pass it into the damn net (just like watching Arsenal) and Mariners got pinged for offside (marginally) about 6 times

	Very enjoyable game, even with a 0-0 scoreline Covic!!!!! Man of the match, quality signing! Fabio, Rojas and Kewell all played well in their debuts. Archie looks back to his best, was raping (Y) Solo could of scored a few in the little time he had. Start him next week instead of Danny but yeah could tell it was our first game, in the last 10 mins or so we had very little energy but that will get better as the season goes on. Stupid cops/security though, they waited 10 mins then brought out the hot headed Sydney fans who hit a couple fans on the way out who were just walking the opposite way and not looking for a fight. Stupid could of been avoided. bring on Adelaide next week! Flying out early Friday morning for the game and come back Saturday arvo (Y)

	Rojas was outstanding last night, as was Covic. The rest all had solid games, a predictable start to the season for Melbourne tbh. Watched the Roar/Mariners game last night, and if it wasn't for the outstanding work of Ryan (next goalkeeper to follow Langerak to the big leagues?), the Roar would've won 5-0. Roar looked VERY good, just need Berisha, Meyer and Nichols to fire them home on a regular basis and they'll win the damn thing again. ------------------- 'I don't know mercy, but I know pain. Roar didn't want to shoot they kept looking for a final ball and trying to walk it into the net they did keep getting free kicks, but they weren't that good at them, always predictable (ie the layoff midway through the second half, or dinking the ball to noone) Central Coast were always threatening with the high line that Brisbane play (but were pinged for offside)... a better, quicker team would have about 5 one-on-ones I do agree however, CCs goalkeeper looked good though
