PWInsider confirms that there was a recent settlement between WWE and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) which allows WWE to use their old WWF logo on footage. WWE made some kind of payment to the World Wildlife Fund. WWE is allowed to use the WWF logo and say WWF over footage as long as it is old footage. For example, WWE couldn't have a Legend come out on RAW next week, cut a promo and talk about how he used to hold the WWF Title and wrestle on WWF pay-per-views.

Well that explains why all that footage from RAW1000 and a bunch of their Attitude Era pics on WWE.com have been uncensored. Why the *bleep* couldn't they have worked out this deal after the initial lawsuit and name change? All those DVD's I have of various Superstars like Mick Foley, half of their matches are all censored. Turnbuckles, referee shirt, apron, commentary, everything is blurred and censored and is distracting in the match. Wonder now if WWE is going to re-release some of their box sets, like the SummerSlam and WrestleMania ones.

Guessing it may of been the charity not allowing them too for years, I still call WWE as WWF it always was and always will be to me.

Seriously WM X8 one of the all time greats is so hard to watch on DVD because of the censoring. Hopefully they will re-release all of those box sets.

You know that had to probably pay some big bucks to be able to do this. Obviously they can probably only do this to old footage and can't start using the WWF name or logo with current stuff.

Glad the WWE has officially settled this issue with the WWF, some of the newer tagged classics I have bought they didn't blur our the WWF logo, but the older ones they did and it was annoying, especially with a champion cutting a segment in the ring, because the belt would be blurred, the ring turnbuckles and various t-shirts from the fans and banners around the arena, made it really awkward for watching classic footage.

I'm guessing the main purpose for this is when they launch their TV network sometime later this year, if it's still on the cards.
