[TNA]: Bound For Glory Series 2012

Current standings after Hardcore Justice. Figured we could use a thread to track this stupid series. After the stipulation for the TNA WHC that the loser wont have another title opportunity while the other guy holds the belt, I'm thinking Austin Aries will keep the belt for a while now. So what I'm hoping for is Bully Ray to win the BFG Series and in October at Bound For Glory, face Austin Aries for the title. These two have had matches in the past that were un-*bleep*ing-believably awesome so seeing the two fight for the TNA WHC would be sick.

Predictions who will win the BFG Series?

Angle to scrape past Joe in the final to set up a Triple Threat with Aries at BFG.

Storm will obviously be busy with Roode.
Ray will probably resume his feud with Abyss which is on hold atm.
AJ and Daniels are still involved in the Claire thing.
RVD and Jeff (and Anderson?) are just over faces floating about without really doing much, probably will join Sting and Hogan against A&8's.
The other three are just filler.

Which really narrows the option's right down. I also think Aries could do with beating an established main-eventer (or two) on the biggest show of the year.

I'm not quite sure why I didn't think there would be HJ spoilers in here.

You know, my gripe with this is that they don't make it seem like it's an important thing. Like why would a guy like Kurt Angle need to compete in this thing? This thing lasts for months at a time, within that time, he could have just challenged for the title. I remember last year, there would be a title match every month, not that it's so hard to get one there, and the winner of the BFG was Roode, but Storm, who didn't win the BFG series, got a title shot like a week after Roode lost or something like that (I don't really remember). So they really don't put too much weight on this, other than that it's the annoying tournament thing they're doing. I think it drags on for way too long and I honestly don't know how they expect people to follow the stats. If they fudged the numbers every week, I highly doubt anyone would notice.

It's a hard call, but I'd say it'll be one of Joe, Angle and Ray.

Joe and Angle provide the opportunity for a great wrestling match at BFG, while Ray will provide a more traditional face/heel showdown.

Either way I don't think the heavyweight title will close BFG this year.

Are you serious?!

• Culmination of major angles and matches (EG: Hogan's face turn last year)
• TNA only take three PPVs on the road - Lockdown, Slammiversary and Bound For Glory. Before this year, it was only Lockdown and Bound For Glory
• Promoted by TNA as their biggest PPV event (regardless of what you say, this is important. Would Wrestlemania be as big as it is if Vince told everyone Survivor Series was more important?)

It would make a lot more sense for Slammiversary to be the biggest, but it isn't. And that's all there is to it.

Not even going to respond properly to that as points 1-2 are wrong, point 3 could easily be applied to WWE, point 4 isn't really an accurate reflection of post-Russo TNA and point 5 is the only legitimate argument you can make.

Look, STORYLINE-wise, if I'm...I don't know, AJ Styles, right? If I came out and I said, "I challenge so-and-so for the TNA title." What would happen? Sure, a heel champion may not accept, but since we have a babyface GM who gives everyone everything as long as the fans like them, the GM can override that. So bam, title shot. Might have to win a number one contenders match, but that's a hell of a lot better than spending 3 months in a stupid tournament that nobody cares about. So I'm AJ, I got the title match. If I win, that means I would have beaten this guy 3 months ahead of time. If I lose, I can either rechallenge the champion, or I could accept the fact that even if I won the BFG series, I'd probably still lose the match. If I win the title, I headline BFG as champion. If I lose, I'm a loser who wouldn't win the BGF series, or in the least, wouldn't win the title.

So it really makes no sense why the major guys are even in it. Low carders, mid carders, I understand. And I applaud that a mid carder won last year, causing a chain reaction of the mid carders moving up to main event status. I know that this is what this tournament is about and I shouldn't expect a main eventer (or whoever they consider main eventers) to win this thing. But I think they should include ONLY mid card and low card guys. Get rid of AJ, Samoa Joe, Angle, etc., and put in guys like Zima Ion, Hernandez, etc. (I don't know if those guys are in it or not lol I'm not paying attention), but you get my thing. Make it a non main event tournament.


BY THE WAY, Hernandez is a *bleep*ing main eventer. I don't care what anyone says. I'd buy a ticket to watch Hernandez main event a major PPV, in TNA OR in WWE. I think WWE should make an offer because Super-Mex is off the hook and has everything. Look, skill, promo ability, everything. If I was in charge of talent relations, he'd be the first guy I'd call from TNA. Gotta hurry up and use him while you can, before he fizzles out. He's not exactly a brand new face that you could make pay dues for another 10 years.
