When Were They Best?

Every few days I'll post up a wrestler and we can all discuss when they were at their best; gimmick wise or when judging their ability. Just whichever period you thought they were at their greatest.

We'll kick things off...with the Big Show.



You've got a whole load of examples there. From when he was The Giant in WCW, through to his current WMD attire, with his WWF debut, ECW championship reign and SmackDown! main eventer all throughout there too.

I would say my favourite was "Big Show" Paul Wight when he first came to WWF in 1999. Chokeslamming The Undertaker through the ring being a particular highlight.



He was a real big dominant heel, and I think that's when he's at his best. He's returning to that gimmick now but it's too late to take him completely seriously and think of him as an unstoppable monster after seeing him try to be funny and friendly over the years. What's your favourite Show?

Maybe fighting his way through the ring to debut actually.

Good idea Audacity. I'd have to go with him being the Giant too. WCW will always be my favourite promotion and back then he was younger and more of an unknown quantity for me so seeing him in his early monster phase was good. Also liked his transition into the nWo and so on. He was good in WWF too I guess but I have fonder memories of WCW.

didn't really watch him in the WCW other than from the re-run.


His early years were great. I still think he's one of the best big guys, and he's slightly better than Mark Henry. He wasn't actually that bad promo wise, but he totally ruined his credibility by begging to Johnny Ace.

OK, I won't believe anyone who says Mean Mark Callous - but I thought I'd throw that gimmick in anyway since it's a part of his career path. We've seen him go from the dark gothic character of The Deadman to...well, the dark gothic character of The Deadman. But there are differences throughout the years. And he had that spell where he became the American Badass. I've tried to gather an eclectic mix of photographs for you to reminisce through, to decide which Undertaker was your favourite...

Personally, I've always liked The Undertaker. However, I think I had a lot more respect and enjoyed his matches more during the recent times he had his Wrestlemania battles with Shawn Michaels and Triple H. Not hugely in favour of his bald look, however. So would pinpoint out my favourite Undertaker starting at Wrestlemania 25.

Undertaker was easily best during his ministry run in late '98-'99, took the whole deadman occult thing to such a new level during that time.

Ministry Taker by far. I love(d) the Ministry, far better than any of the dull face deadman's we've had.

My favorite era of taker was between WM XIV and XV, in the heart of the attitude era. He had the metal-sounding theme song, the feud with Kane, the feuds with Austin, it was the deadman meets the attitude era, all of this ultimately leading up to the Ministry of Darkness. This is when I actually was a Undertaker fan, then he lost me after he left during the ministry of darkness character to be "the american badass"
