WWE and ION Television have announced a new weekly original series airing Wednesday nights at 8/7 CT. WWE Main Event will debut Oct. 3, 2012, and the one-hour program will feature WWE Superstars and Divas from the rosters of Raw and SmackDown. The new show will be available in 100 million U.S. television households on ION Television.

“WWE looks forward to this new partnership with ION Television,” WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon said. “We are excited about producing this new television show, WWE Main Event, and bringing our fans to ION Television every Wednesday.”

WWE Main Event will feature in-ring action and offer a big-arena experience with live audiences like current WWE weekly programs.

From what I have read, the show is replacing Superstars. It's not adding an extra hour to the week.

It'll gain a lot of exposure in the US. It is currently not on TV here, which sucks because Superstars is a good show.

ION television, for what it's worth, is available without cable in many areas. Could be a boon in that area.

Changing the name to WWE Main Event wouldn't hurt though. Given the roster who only ever appear on Superstars, this'll probably be the only time most of them come close to the main event of anything.

What webshow.. "Superstars"? That started out as a cable show, but then like NXT, they lost their TV deal and put it on their website, while still airing it internationally due to contractual agreements. There's really no reason they couldn't have just redebuted Superstars on another television network. Since this is basically what that is, albeit it now has main eventers on it.

The Voiceless, Superstars is still shown on TV here. Starting tomorrow, so is Main Event.
