Aside from clips, was Cena even in the show tonight?

Maybe that's why I kind of enjoyed RAW tonight, because Cena wasn't there to be stupid and annoying on the mic, pretending to be funny going "herp derp loooooserrrr". Goddamn that promo at the beginning showing that clip from Cena really makes me question why anyone likes Cena at all.

Big Show wrecking shit up and being a dominant giant is what he should have been his entire career. Always hate when they establish him as a monster giant only to turn him face again and basically make him a comedy act and have guys like *bleep*ing Spike Dudley gain a clean pinfall victory over him. But I do like how they've been justifying all of the crap he's done over the years as simply a "business decision". lold at that fan talking shit at the end to Big Show too.

Edgefan, find yourself another chick to lust over. Go after Brodus' dancers... they're kind of like twins in a way, sort of. #NoRacist.

I agree on the last part, he didn't need comedy gimmicks or losses to Spike Dudley but on the former...

Monster heel characters have zero depth and zero longevity. They are built up to be an unstoppable wrecking machine and nothing else. When they lose, what next? Start an unbeaten streak again? Doesn't mean as much because you've seen them lose. Therefore release them, turn them face, repackage them or let them wander around the midcard.

That's why Hogan spent the 80's and early 90's in various feuds with guys that got a major match with Hogan, lost and then did very little else in the main event scene. Zeus, Bundy, Hercules and to a lesser extent Yokozuna and Earthquake.

They brought Kamala in on three seperate occassions to have runs as a monster heel, against Andre, Hogan and Undertaker. Like most, he just had no depth and they let him go after he was defeated each time. He served his purpose. Guys like Kozlov, Umaga, Heidenreich or Snitsky are recent victims of this.

Or why guys who debut (their characters) as monster heels end up then spending their career largely as faces. Undertaker, Kane, Khali, Batista, Mark Henry, Andre, Viscera and Hogan to name just a few.

It's even harder for a tall, monster heel like Big Show. They become a sideshow, people want to go see wrestling to see the giant. So people cheer at seeing something so amazing. A 7ft human.

Does it go deeper? Is there a fundamental flaw in the booking? Yes. Characters should be developed to remain interesting and relevant, but so often it's an easy option for a heel to just give them a short run as a monster. It freshens up the main event and makes the super face, who has to overcome the odds, look even stronger. It's win win, often these guys are brought in with no intention of making them lasting characters, they're merely there to make the champ look stronger.

It's just very hard to continually keep a one dimensional monster heel relevant and a plausible threat to the champ, even though he's lost all his previous opportunities at the title and in the WWE's case - if something's hard, it's not worth doing. Maybe it's not even possible in north america. Off the top of my head I can't think of someone that was a long time monster heel.

Tensai is going to end up a heel midcard wanderer and Ryback will turn superface within 12 months.

So who here was expecting him to come out? I didn't even notice he wasn't in the show until it was over. Hence why I asked a simple question.

Just watched Raw. Loved Punk and Dbry, I hope they keep having matches with each other for years.

Also, I think Tensai beat Alex Riley in a dark match. Cena came out after taping stopped, don't remember who he fought but it's on the internets. Dude said he got the biggest pop of the night, which I guess is understandable considering they built up to it all show.

Ambrose also fought Tyson Kidd. Why the *bleep* aren't they on TV?

SmackDown was pretty good this week. Ziggler is fantastic. Ryback is dominant, but needs more. Damien Sandow continues to grow on me.

As a fan of Kane, I approve of where his storyline is going.

I know lots of people will be annoyed that Kane was added to the Bryan/Punk feud, but I think it kind of works. I think they need to highlight a bit more, though, that it was Bryan and Punk themselves that dragged him into it, and it is not Kane's "fault", so to speak. Basically, make them pay for their own actions, tryin to injure/humiliate/whatever each other, through Kane.

Also, the way AJ was sitting at the end, looking at Bryan and Punk makes me think her 'craziness' is going to have something to do with Kane. Maybe she will screw both Punk and Bryan over, at No Way Out, to help Kane win?

In other news, the Superstars intro has been altered slightly. It used to be HBK/Triple H half-half, but swapped to Drew McIntyre/Triple H after HBK left. Now it is CM Punk/Triple H.
