re: Asian "Quirks"

Asians invent and the Westerns invest. That's how Asians get the money but where it goes is the mystery!

You kids have no discipline in yourselves, and if your generation doesn't straight up your ways, you'll be on the bad side of the world then regret it for the rest of your lives.

My batch, and batches before me have good Education and Degrees in whatever they took. And we worked for it, and now we have better Jobs.

yes. I definitely agree with you there, Maybe some of us are slackers and not all of us work real hard but the majority of asian people know what they want in life and strive to succeed.

re: Asian "Quirks"

I wouldn't say that it is a stereotypical view of Asians working hard. From what I see it is present at least in the Asia subcontinent. I'm not sure if it is there in what is considered to be just Asia (not subcontinent) but it is still present too my eyes. However I suppose it depends on what country it is. Let us be realistic and compare Japan to a third world Asian country. I'm not criticising anybody or the country itself but which country's people (the majority) will work harder in comparison. So I believe it varies through out Asia.

re: Asian "Quirks"

YOu guys might not see it, but though present in Asian countries, people may be seen slacking.

But have you ever wonder about those Asians who travels throughout the Globe searching for a better job?

Wouldn't you call that working hard? Sure you may not see some family working in these countries, it's because of the lack of Employment. They travel to other places looking for jobs and working hard, thus leaving the "laziest" people in their countries.

Leaving the laziest? No.
There may be high unemployment rates in some countries, but that doesn't mean that no jobs are available. People still remain in those countries working the jobs that there are.

I'm going to remind everyone that Asians don't have this special gene that has "hard-working" in it...

Are we still talking about quirks or is this thread becoming socio-political.

re: Asian "Quirks"

Okay you guys have you ever heard of the "tubong lugaw" syndrome with the Filipinoes? Philippines have lots of jobs to offer but most who goes out of the country wants more paying either they have a family to support and the job they hold doesn't pay enough. Or they just get out because they have the same job but the paying they get is bigger than here.

And yes we are discussing something which is a bit out of the Asian Quirks, oh well it keeps this forum alive. Back to Asian Quirks!

re: Asian "Quirks"

Well, yes, for once I agree with you Ringo.

It's not about the genes, it's about how bad they want a better life than what they have.

But sometimes, noticing some people. I see the way the live with the "Happy-Go-Lucky" habits. I hate that!

People offer them jobs, but the turn them away because the pay is small. But to other people, that small paycheck will grow bigger as they show their dedication to their work because they don't want to go back to their poor lives.

It's all about wanting a better future.

I feel you there Ringo.

Opportunities come and go. Personally, When an opportunity comes to me I immediately take it whether it will improve my life in a minor way or in a major way. Its still an improvement and you don't shy away from that.

I like that attitude Neo! That's a good outlook in life. But, I still regard asians to be, in general terms, hardworking and diligent in their work when they have one. Just take the Chinese... man... they're everywhere! Hehe. Well, Filipinos are everywhere as well. Hahaha!

The Chinese? Well yeah, In general they are hardworking. Take the great wall for example, It was made only by people. That very long wall was conceived because of the hardwork of the chinese people back then.

Me... I'm 14.

Yea, and while the Filipinos and Chinese were going over the world, the Japanese were trying to isolate as much as possible... Ugh. Ah well, a lot of interesting stuff happened because of that isolation.

I can agree that Asians tend to work a little harder but it's all in the culture. The Chinese people didn't just decide to build the Great Wall. Their emperor sort of "persuaded" them...

Yes. I know about that story.(Read about it in our asian history class)

At first their emperor forced some people but it was for their own benefit too so others soon followed and they built it.
