I have a stupid question to ask: What exactly is the bomb that liquid sets before the fist-fight with him?
The fact that it is has a timer, and liquid sets it with a button, suggests that it is just a normal timer-bomb, but the way that liquid describes it;
Liquid: This nuclear module is set to detonate at the prcise moment of her (meryl's) death,
suggests that it will explode because meryl dies. Plus Snake doesn't have to defuse it or anything, just try to save meryl.

Well if you had the choice, would you rather have a bomb or a girl? Actually, there is a sort of explosion just after snake and meryl/otacon go through the exit, so perhaps that was the bomb?

I usually avoid all explosives/weapons actually. Anyway, my pockets are saved for chocolate and money (never much of each though )
