The problem is that Goku wasn't to confident in fighting Oob and winning. He knew that himself, Vegeta, and Mr Boo where entering, and he wasn't sure that any of them would win. That clearly indicates that he thought he was going to fight a guy as strong as Kid Boo, who he was rivaling 10 years ago, and wasn't sure he could pull of the win..So his gains weren't that astronomical.

Its kind of tricky to be honest, its not like we know what goku was thinking.

I now know that reincarnation doesn't guarantee that the new live form would surpass, but uub is special. Uub even without hard training or learning how to use ki uub is league beyond the Ginyu force the minimum, I don't see the ginyu force being able to push goku with a attack.

It can go either way to be honest, Goku could of been expecting uub to = kid or goku could of been thinking that uub >>> kid buu and goku might lose tournament, but we never know factually.what goku was thinking.

There are three things why I think goku was thinking Uub >>> kid buu

1. Goku believe that with training both goku and vegeta can beat an evil buu should mr buu release another evil buu. Lets not forget that vegeta only has SSJ2.

2. Goku was new to the SSJ3 form in buu saga, with 10 years of training mastering SSJ3 should provide a great boost seeing the body gets used to the transformation and the drain gets reduced. Goku can use the maximum power of SSJ1 thanks to mastering, when its not mastered energy gets wasted by the drain and strain.

3. Goku seen what reincarnation can do to the new live form, goku experienced that reincarnated beings can surpass original being, its not 100% but that the only thing we are shown.

My point is no normal earthling are stronger than the ginyu force without training. But Uub since being a reincarnation he somehow stronger than the whole ginyu force that is my point.

Note: it's also possible that by "that terrible Boo", Vegeta is referring to Pure Evil or Evil Boo.

Then goku say this

Goku does say that both vegeta and goku can train so if an evil buu does appear they be strong enough to defeat a new evil buu 1 vs 1 not 2 vs 1.

So that means that goku is thinking both train hard to make huge gain to surpass kid buu, Vegeta needs to make a huge power gain to be able to defeat kid buu as a SSJ2.

Well that is only mentioning what us reader have seen and what goku has seen nothing more.

Remember this being reincarnation doesn't grant full access to full power of previous live form, it requires hard training as shown, just how powerful can the reincarnation get that is a mystery.

Yes that does qualify, I was searching for Oob that how i missed that quote.

But that quote doesn't mean that goku is thinking that Oob = Kid buu. It could also be that goku is thinking Oob >>> Kid.

Yah, I think you are way to stuck on Piccolo's reincarnation Super Michael. Just because it happened with Piccolo, doesn't mean that the same was kid. A lot things are not the way they used to be, for example, Super Saiyan went from an unique, and incredibly hard rage triggered transformation, to childs play.

But if Oob reincarnations is nothing like piccolo, how come oob is strong?

I place Oob full power way beyond captain ginyu since i doubt any attack ginyu did would budge goku let alone push goku back.

If oob isn't anything like piccolo, then shouldn't oob be a weakling? I mean look at the humans they have to train long and hard to surpass the ginyu force while Oob without tought training is way stronger than the ginyu force maybe as strong as frieza.

Oob was strong as he was because he had Kid Boo's power re-incarnate in him.

Okay, even if Oob could get stronger we are forgetting that he's a human being who happens to have Boo's power within him, its not like Oob had bubble gum DNA in him, so if Oob were to get stronger him being a human would mean his natural limit would be the Krillen range. Throw in Kid Boo's power hidden in him, and the increase would be nothing.

Getting back to topic at hand, what we know is Goku was expecting a Kid Boo tier opponent nothing more nor less. All he got was a kid who had no idea of the power within him and how to use it. Goku promises to train the Kid so that they can one day have the re-match he wanted so much (i.e. Ssj3 Goku vs Kid Boo[as Oob]).

Hmm true that what make piccolo and uub different. King piccolo was a dragon clan or demon clan namek reincarnated to warrior which gave piccolo a bigger boost in potential than king piccolo. As for kid buu we don't know what being he was, but he was reincarnated to a human, which are the weak compared the the saiyan and namek.

So even if uub has more potential then kid buu, it be minimum to none since human have way less potential than namek and saiyan.

We can agree that piccolo and uub reincarnation are different, I forgot that king piccolo was reincarnated to a fighting type namek, while Uub is reincarnated to a human who aren't strong.
