Piccolo's confidence against Android 19 and 20 ?

Some people (p123) think that Piccolo's confidence suggest that Piccolo in the Android arc is stronger than SSJ Trunks in the Mecha Freeza arc (because Piccolo knows he's going to be going up against Androids who should be able to kick the crap out of SSJ Trunks.

However, was Piccolo ever confident against the Androids PRIOR to seeing 19 fight the sick SSJ Goku?

I know Vegeta said before fighting 19 that the Androids were "not as terrible as they've been made out to be" or something like that by watching 19 take on Goku. Piccolo's confidence could be something like that, he assessed their power from the 19 vs Goku fight.

It's certainly possible he's within the SSj realm of power now. But simply being "confident of one's own power" doesn't necessarily mean you're better than someone else. Here's an example I used on DaizEX once.

I used to play soccer a lot as a kid. I played it in what you might call a "little league" equivalent with the big county homeschool group my family belonged to. I was quite good, able to go up against kids two years or so older than me. These days, I'm still pretty good at playing soccer, and am always ready and raring to play at church picnics and stuff. In that sense, you could say I'm "confident" in my soccer skills.

But would I be able to play against professionals? Hell no. I'd get creamed.

Point: "Confidence" in one's own skills does not guarantee measuring up to someone else's.

The quote goes:
Piccolo: “How about it, Son Goku…Frankly, do you think we can win against this enemy…”
Goku: “There’s no way I could know that without even seeing them. I’ll answer once I give it a try.”
Piccolo: “You’re pretty carefree…It’s not like I lack confidence…However, I can’t clear this uneasy premonition from my mind…”

As you can see, Piccolo says: "do you think we can win against this enemy..."
So Piccolo was talking about the group winning(the Z-Fighters), not himself.

Goku then answers that he'll give an answer once he has tried his luck, so it seems pretty obvious that Goku is the strongest one and the one everybody counts on.

This is what Piccolo goes on to comment on with his confidence line.
At no point is it indicated that Piccolo is confident in his own power from that line.

He just talks about the group winning(which is pretty much just Goku).

So if one wants to claim that SSJ Trunks < Piccolo, then I suggest you use Piccolo's line against #20 instead, since the above doesn't hint at anything other than Goku being the one the group is counting on.

Piccolo's individual confidence POST Goku vs 19 fight means nothing IMO...because Vegeta assessed Android 19's level based on that fight alone...and Piccolo could have easily done the same.



That one comment to Gero from Piccolo is a tricky, though.

SSJ Trunks >> Freeza > Piccolo >> Android 19 and 20

Although we could end up something like this

Piccolo >> Androids 19 and 20 > SSJ Trunks >> Freeza

Well, i doubt the androids were in billions, power level wise. People ten to have them around the 300-350 mill mark. Goku cant win, hence he didnt even double his power in 3 years. he was around 200 when he got back from yardrat.

Piccolo > Androids 19/20 Post > SSJ Trunks > Freeza > Androids 19/20 Pre


Vegeta says Meh... about 19/20 Pre...

Piccolo isn't sure if the Androids are the androids that Trunks talked about, or if the Z Senshi just got too strong...

Piccolo is on par with if not greater than SSJ SIck Goku. Piccolo handles 20 Post easier, than Goku handles 19 Pre...

I think you may have debunked the Piccolo's confidence thing Makuu. I still stand by what p said though. No way is Piccolo going to even suspect they are the real Artificial Humans if they are weaker than Freeza... It really seems like huge Freeza bias to me or 19/20 hater-ism.

Furthermore, I go as far as to say that no way is Piccolo going to suspect they are the real Artificial Humans if they are weaker than Trunks (Mecha).

P, I think Piccolo said something like "I'm not so sure about that" when Tenshinhan said Sick Goku was in a whole different dimension. That could imply that Piccolo is around Sick Goku's level which is pretty much shown when Piccolo demolishes 20.

Well I stand by Piccolo being stronger than Trunks based on him not knowing if they(#19 & #20) were weaker than expected or the guys simply improving too much.

He would have known they weren't the ones, if he himself was weaker than Trunks obviously.
