re: Dragon Ball General Discussion 23: The On-Topic Saga

**********Dragonball film actor Justin Chatwin (Son Goku) told SciFiNow, Imagine Publishing's British science fiction, fantasy, and horror magazine, that his live-action project already has a script for a second film written. Chatwin added that if the sequel is green-lit, "The second one goes more into the whole legacy and the genealogy of Dragonball. It goes more in-depth into a real Dragonball series, the kind of intergalactic world of Dragonball.”

This follows actress Jamie Chung's recent statement that the actors had signed up for two sequels to the first movie.**********

Yup yup, its pretty likely to make enough money to produce two more movies.

re: Dragon Ball General Discussion 23: The On-Topic Saga

Sounds like the next two movies, if they are actually made, will go into the Saiyajin and Freeza arcs maybe.... The whole "Intergalactic" thing makes me think that.... Besides that, that's pretty much the next two arcs that happen after the Piccolo Daimao arc, unless they plan on doing the Piccolo Jr. saga too...

Something tells me they will skip the Piccolo Jr./Tournament Arc simply because Goku was not a kid in the first film, and was already 17-18 years old, like he was in the Piccolo Jr. arc.....

Who knows though.... Judging by the first film, they could do whatever the hell they want.... Red Ribbon Arc maybe, why not? Let's go ass backwards guys!

But, maybe the sequels will be better and closer to the manga, I guess we will have to wait and see what MAGIC they have in store for us....

First tip: Drop Chatwin all together.... LOL

Ooh, I can feel the producer thinking about adding guns for Goku, and shooting like Neo did in matrix

A full movie of pure martial arts tournament? It would be simple enough to be made, but I can't imagine how they can put all that material in a single movie. It feels too rushed to think about saiyan/frieza sagas even seperated into two movies. But I'm hopeful, maybe they do something like what Nolan did to Batman series

LanDi Sama doesn't even post here anymore dude LOL..... You'd be better of PMing them if you want them to receive the message.....

Jummeli - Yeah, who knows, the first movie seemed rushed to, I don't think they really care TBH.... Well, they care, JUST enough to get peoples money LOL, but you see.... Most of the people I have seen, even non DB fans were disappointed in this movie, so chances are, any sequels will probably not do that well, so I have a hard time seeing them doing more than one more sequel.... Hell, this movie didn't even do that well.... Not in America anyway.

So who would be the best choice to replace chatwin for the role of Goku? I've been sitting here trying to come up with someone and can't. The only thing i know for sure is that Chatwin sucks.

Well, I'd say, at the very least somebody that has some more muscle on them than Chatwin does. Chatwin has like no muscle at all, which doesn't make for a believe Goku IMO. Maybe they could use a professional wrestler for the role, though I can't think of a suitable one for Goku atm. I was thinking The Rock, since he is a full time actor now, but I can't picture him as Goku either...

So....Tom Cruise then?

re: Dragon Ball General Discussion 23: The On-Topic Saga

Back when talk of the movie first started like 3-4 years ago, back when half of the fandom thought it was a hoax (Turned out it wasn't, as Fox originally just scraped the idea and brought it back again a couple years later), everyone was creating fan made cast choices, and this is what I came up with.

Goku: Robin Shou (Lui Kang in Mortal Kombat films)
Vegeta: Jet Li (See the movie "The One" to see why)
Piccolo: Keith David (Did the voice of Spawn in the HBO animated series, has also been in quite a few TV shows.)
Roshi: Pat Morrita (The sensei in the Karate Kid flicks)
Bulma: Jessica Alba (If you don't know who she is, kill yourself... LOL )
Nappa: Goldberg (Former wrestler)

I realize such actors as Shou and Li are a lil old to play young versions of Goku and Vegeta from the Saiyajin Arc and would better suit Buu Arc Goku and Vegeta if anything, but, on the other hand, make up can work wonders you know, so it could still work... After all, how many 20 somethings do you see playing teenagers on TV shows and movies? Lots, that's how many... LOL

Tony Jaa would also make a good Goku, and even though he is a lot older looking than Li, the guy who played Shang Tsung in the first Mortal Kombat film would have made a good Vegeta to, but definitely an older looking Vegeta....

I always found it funny when people complained when I and others chose asians to play those roles... Saying such silly things as "Just because it is a Japanese anime doesn't mean they are asian, they are not even human!" In which I would reply "Yeah, and? They are not white people either, so what's your point?"

I didn't pick Shou and Li because they were asian specifically, I chose them because I genuinely thought they would do a good job, and are skilled in martial arts to boot....

I always found it much more humorous when people would SERIOUSLY (Yes some people were serious) suggest that Vernon Troyer AKA Mini Me would make a good Krillin just because he is short and bald... Ummmm no? LOL....

Back in the day, before I started to dislike Vin Diesel, I always thought he would make a good Tien, but... No..... Vin Diesel....

Anyway, Goku and Vegeta and such are not as hard to pick a cast for as Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, and Chazou especially would be....

Obviously, my list above was compiled assuming they started it all off with the Saiyajin Arc.... Back then we had no idea what the actual movie was going to revolve around...

re: Dragon Ball General Discussion 23: The On-Topic Saga

Jet Li can be very intimidating as a villain and he has something in his face that would work for Vegeta. I saw The One too and the end scene where his character told the inmates that they are his bitches and so on was epic

Robin Shou has done few goofy roles, but if you could teach Tony Jaa some acting, only seen him playing the same serious guy role in every movie, he would make a nice package. Or maybe they should cast completely out of the picture person, like Nolan chose Heath Ledger as the Joker, and try to work something epic from that.

Jackie Chan would make a funny Roshi, adding him the drunken boxing style for some humor fighting. I don't think Krillin has to be that short to work, just make him act like he did in the actual story is fine

But overall its hard to do these awesome characters, especially if the movie makers lack the love for doing them right. I browsed through some biggest stars at the moment, but there was no Goku among them in my eyes

re: Dragon Ball General Discussion 23: The On-Topic Saga

Yeah, the end of The One is one example of why I think he would make a good Vegeta, and also the scene where he close lined the two motorcycle officers off their bikes, then commenced to picking up the two bikes and smashing one of the officers inbetween them.... Also the scene where he was running so fast, it went in slow motion and he windmill kicked one of the officers in mid air all sick like while he was still on the ground.... Classic Vegeta like moments IMO right there.... Would make for an awesome Vegeta, IF they made those scenes in DB just like how they did in The One....

Everytime I see that movie, I ALWAYS think of Vegeta in those scenes....

Jackie Chan could work, especially if they did the whole Jackie Chun thing... LULZ

You've GOT to have Nathan Jones who played that big american fighter from Jet Li's Fearless as Nappa. You all know who I mean.

Well shut my mouth, LanDi Sama did show up to see the message....

Why thank you Wire, I appreciate that.

And yes, Jones would make a good Nappa..... Really, any big muscular bald guy with a fierce attitude/intensity and some acting skill could pull it off....

Hmmm, well, I could be mistaken, but isn't Goldberg actually bigger than Nathan Jones? I don't mean literally in terms of height, but muscular build and such. He has played in movies before, I know he has, like the Longest Yard (I believe it was called that?), along with a bunch of other professional wrestlers. But yeah, both could work, maybe even Stone Cold

I like your Jet Li suggestion btw, he's awesome. As for the Bulma role, that Emmy Rossum chick can stay on as far as I'm conerned, nothing wrong with her either, though I wouldn't mind seeing Alba either...
