Here's the levels:

1> Yellow - Bog standard - can't do much.

2> Light Blue - River Chocobo - Can walk in shallow water (the light area in the sea, or on rivers). Requires a beach to get onto/off of land. Can be used to get to the lagoon, but will only have half the area, and half the time, at least it's also half the price.

3> Red - Mountain Chocobo - As the name suggests, it runs over mountains. You can now open cracks in the mountains if you find a dead pepper. In the Chocobo Forest, you can now climb onto the two brown areas to either side, but it's usually just a waste of time. Can still wade in shallow water.

4> Purple - Sea Chocobo - As you can guess, now we can go anywhere... almost. This chocobo still needs a beach to get onto/off of land, so Chocobo's Paradise is still off limits. Can still climb mountains. You now have full time, and full access in the lagoon. As well as full price. You can now get the undersea treasures, provided you have a dead pepper.

5> Gold - Air Chocobo - This is it. The final chocobo. Run into a forest and press 'X' to take off. Can only land in a forest. Once airborne, use a dead pepper when over a shadow to enter the sky garden. This chocobo has all the previous abilities as well.

Get Gold, and find all treasures (talk to the chocobos in Paradise to be given hints) and then return to paradise for another subquest complete.
