Classic Gamer's Society
|
.:Neoseeker's Classic Gamer's Society:. You enter through a rather elaborate foyer that is dressed out in extravagence. A lilting piano tune wafts into the large atrium as you enter. The ceiling, made of glass, allows the afternoon sun rays in to warm the heart. A waiter moves forward to offer you a drink. "Welcome to the Classic Gamer's Society." .:Purpose The purpose of the Classic Gamer's Society is to allow like minded people the opportunity to play and discuss classic games before the era of the fifth generation consoles (i.e Sony Playstation). By joining, you will have the opportunity to play the featured game and partake in discussions about the game, not only here in this forum but also in the particular forum pertaining to the game. The aim is to foster activity into the dead forums to make Neoseeker more of an active site, and hopefully attract more visitors as well. In doing this, it is hoped that people will contribute to the profile and guide sections of the games discussed to flesh them out more for site visitors. Any contributions will be very much appreciated. The society is not limited in the genre of games that are played and as such, each member may experience games that they have never had the pleasure of playing before. Sure, some games may not appeal to your individual desires, however please be polite and try to partake in each game in kind - and be positive in your discussions. The society strictly adheres to the guidelines of Neoseeker, and as such a breach of any of the rules will not be tolerated. .:Platforms
.:Rules .:Members Matt Addison [Founder] Terranigma Fan DaveStrife Xerepolis Anesthetize Supernova1332 Hell Fire Best Player Ever Chad The Butcher Machienzo Chronoboy21 DrFred Chimaira LanDi Sama Military G .:Life Cycle The selected game will be announced exactly one week prior to the date that it is due to begin being featured. This should give sufficient time for all members to locate the game by whichever means possible and have it ready to go for when it becomes featured. All games will run on a one week basis, with the exception of any game title from the RPG genre. This means that members will get a full two weeks to experience an RPG title to its fullest and not have to rush through the game. All other titles will receive a one week time frame as it's expected that one week will be sufficient to fully experience a game such as a shooter, racing game or platformer etc. .:Hierarchy The Classic Gamer's Society follows quite a basic hierarchy for the time being. The way things work is that members are required to play each new game that is featured and participate in the discussions in the pertaining forum. Should this occur, then upon four consecutive games played and participated in (one month straight) will elevate them to a higher status. This status of venerable member [Venerable Member] grants the ability to have gravity to their voice in selecting the subsequent games to be played. However, this must also follow the rules of the society and can not be taken out of character or context. On the other end of the scale, however, should someone not particpate in two featured games consecutively, they will then gain themselves an inactive tag [INACTIVE]. A further two consecutive weeks of no activity (one month in total) will have them booted from the society and their name will no longer appear on the member list. This is still under construction. Should you feel that there is anything that needs to be added, please let me know. Please SUBSCRIBE to this thread. This message was edited by Matt Addison on Nov 08 2009. -------------------

So I was thinking recently... the Literature Forum has a book club where people gather, read a book and then discuss it's content.
How about, to promote this forum, and also that of the individual games that are played - we conduct a gamer club so to speak, where we all partake in the gaming of a console classic (of the Super Nintendo era or earlier) and comment on the game within the forum for the game itself, and also here. That way it boasts activity within the individual forum, and also gets people playing games that they haven't played before, or perhaps games that they never would have really considered before. It shall cover all genres of games. If anyone is interested, please post here and we can put something together, I guess. What are your thoughts on this? -------------------

This is an amazing idea
I can definitely add some insight when it comes to the Jrpg's of the Super Nintendo although my knowledge of earlier systems is almost non existent. The idea of the gamer club is a great one once we hopefully get some more members. ------------------- The Classic Gamer's Society. A gentry club for classic gaming guys. Awesome.
Well if you could spread the word.. perhaps by including a link in your signature, or telling other people about it. It's a chance to experience games that you never have before. As for not having the particular console or game, you needn't worry about that either so don't let that stop you from joining. Only, the distribution of such devices is not allowed for open discussion. When we get a few more members, I think we'll begin with our first game. ;D Okay. So the first game, as discussed will be Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. I have updated the post above with details. Also, I don't know if we'll place specific timeframes upon how long we'll play a game before moving on, however the shortest time frame will be a week which allows adequate time to fully experience a game. Some games will not need any longer than that (i.e games that are not RPGs etc). If you need access to this game, please PM me. Maybe if we all linked this thread in or signature we can boost the traffic of this thread.
![]() I'll be doing that although I doubt people actually look at my signature unless I use some flashy signature that will call everyone attention but my Bozoseeker banner is so sexy! Long live Bozo the Clown!!! -------------------

Awesome! That would be great.
Try this;
Um.. okay so I changed my own banner and avatar to kind of advertise not only this project, but also Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals. If anyone wants a simple banner or avater (I can do extravagent ones, but I am lazy...), please let me know and I'll concuct something for you. ;D It has to relate to this society though. Any requests outside classic gaming will not be taken on. This message was edited by Matt Addison on Oct 10 2009. -------------------

Can I join too?
The CGS sounded great as I was reading it but I was really sold when I read that Lufia II would be the first game discussed. One of my favorite classics from the SNES.
