After all the books, it is clear that Varys is intending to help put the Targaryens back in the Iron Throne. After all, he has ensured that the entire kingdom was at war with one another. And the fact he killed Kevan to stop him from fixing the Iron Throne. So why did he inform Robert that Dany was pregnant in Game of Thrones? Wouldn't he want to keep this information secret to protect her.

I'm almost glad there aren't any more books for the moment. Feel pretty weary at this point. For almost 2000 pages between this and Crows, not enough happens for my taste. Dany gets literally nowhere, and since she's so vital to the apparent direction of the series that was B.S. The white walkers haven't gotten much closer to the wall either.

Best parts:
-Jon Snow. The wall was almost all I cared about this book and I really liked Jon's moves as Lord Commander. His thinking of get every living human south of the wall before the wights come was spot on, even if it looked like palling around with the free folk to his brothers.
-Bran. Say what you will about the seeming misdirection of his story, I thought where he ended up was perfect and just got more fascinating as time went on. The only loose end here is the Reeds, who are trapped and starving way north of the wall.
-Tyrion's chapters. At the very least, he was moving all the time in an unpredictable manner and had some good internal musings. Is staged to be a big player in the coming war.
-Varys! Almost worth the whole book for that little tease of whatever he's playing. And finally something happened in King's Landing with two character deaths.
-Arya's chapters were well written as always. Could've done for more traction though and less repetition of "you just don't get it yet."
-Theon looks like a lot less of a sonofabitch next to the Boltons. Still don't know what the point of having these two Greyjoys alive in a blizzard is.

Worst parts:
-Dany, I like you, but you thought about banging Daario too much and sat on your ass in boring Meereen. No good moments until the fighting pit reopened and Quentyn loosed the dragons.
-I don't think a single character in Dorne has been well written besides Doran Martell.
-Same goes for the (seaboard) Greyjoys. Whatever to you, Victarion.
-This book needed a battle. Stannis can't be stuck in the snow for the last half and Ramsay Bolton just gets away for the time being. Also did he really write that note ('Bastard') or was it just the night's watch trying to get him out of his seat.

Davos is gonna retrieve Rickon. Theon (and now Stannis) has fake Arya. Jamie and Brienne are inexplicably reunited and going to find Sansa? I don't know. Get your shit together Martin, and don't rush this one until it's cohesive
