It's not as salacious as I make it out to be. Usually. XD

Well I wanted to check out Perfume, have read all the Sookie Stackhouse books that are out, was given a few books from my aunt that are some kind of vampire books, but I wasn't overly impressed by any of them.

Recently read a bunch of Kim Harrison's work too. I really liked her books at first, but I am starting to get really annoyed with the main protagonist, so I am not sure how much more I will read.

For things that aren't so dark I reread Dante's Inferno not too long ago, but wasn't as happy as I was with it the first time I read it. I blame it on the fact that the first time I read it it was this old crumbling paperback from the 50's that has the original old English translation on one page and on the facing page it was written in plain English and explained the people he was encountering and why he put them where he did. It made it much easier to understand and enjoyable to read. Also tried to read The House of Seven Gables shortly after I went up to Salem and took a tour of the house that inspired the story, but it was starting to bore me so I didn't finish it.

I've read all the early Elric books, all the Hawkmoon, a lot of the Corum amd Jerry Cornelius and god knows how many sundry Moorcock books. I really should go and dig them out my mum's loft.

Moorcock is a clever guy but some of his stuff just rubs me up the wrong way, it's like he tries to pack too many ideas in and sometimes the plot and descriptive writing come to grief as a result.

I like almost everything about the Sookie Stackhouse books apart from the central character Daisy, I find her really dull.

Can't say I am familiar with Elric.

Yeah - I have to admit I like her TV version better than the book version. I also don't like the whole Alcide and Quinn plotlines. Looks like the show is delving into the whole Alcide/Debbie Pelt thing this season - should be interesting to see where they go with it.

We weighed the books we have in the flat today, thinking ahead to the flight home, and it's 15kg haha, we didn't even buy the archaeology books either XD

Those 15kg contain everything from Homer and Herodotus to Beckett, Pinter, Cormac McCarthy, also some Shakespeare and Restoration Drama as well haha. Poetry from Heaney, Larkin and Hughes as well. Not a bad mix!

Some African novels as well, has anyone read Tsitsi Dangarembga? Nervous Conditions is a great novel.
