I'm reading a thing called Hostile Terrain by Dale Brown. It's a few years old
According to the cover, he is apparently competition for Clancy, but what I've read so far seems to be weapon and bomber (specifically EB-52 'Megafortress' Heavy Bombers) specifications interspersed with as little plot as possible.
What plot there is, is about Taiwan declaring independance from mainland China, and China arranging matters to keep the Americans from retaliating for their attacks on that country.

Half a dozen nukes have been set off so far.

The 5000 Year Leap

Emphasizes the twenty-eight Principles of Freedom the U.S. Founding Fathers said must be understood and perpetuated by everyone who wants peace, prosperity, and freedom in America.

Some of it's over my head, but it's all really a great read. I recommend this book to any American.

As mentioned elsewhere, I'm currently reading The Stand by Mr King.
I'm a fair chunk of the way through it, about a third, which weighs in at about 600 pages of nearly 2000.

I'm waiting for zombies.

Reading Faerie Wars Chronicles series by Herbie Brennan. Very indulging books, recommended for all Fantasy fans.

Also reading The Appeal by John Grisham, I never thought I would find a Legal Fiction book any good but it's actually really hard to put down, so if you like that sort of thing then it's definitely one to read.

Clive Cussler's stuff is so very average I suggest you put it back Scott.
If you feel like some slam bang adventure stuff go read Patient Zero or The Dragon Factory by Jonathan Maberry, or anything by Bernard Cornwell, John Ringo, or Nelson DeMille

I think you was right about Clive Cussler, Dr Corners.
I've only read a couple of chapters, but its all a bit simple and plainly laid out.
The main character, a private detective, knew this woman was a spy almost as soon as he met her. I know the guy, Bell is his name, is supposed to be all brilliant, but that pretty much came out of the blue.

Edit - I still finsihed it, mostly to see how it would play out.
