Hm. Howzabout giving a push to a thread focusing on what and how books should be adapted into other media (movies, tv, etc)? And for that matter, perhaps a thread dealing with music listening choices to accompany certain reading selections/preferences?

Seriously, I think the best thing to do is for people here to participate in discussions even if they are not big fans of the various authors and series being discussed. Not talking about trolling here. I mean, I can't stand Twilight, for instance. So I am not going to go into that thread and start spewing crap against it just because it is my opinion. I like Mac's idea, perhaps a thread aking which books you think should be movies but aren't?

As for the topic at hand, a few controversial/thought provoking discussions will always increase interest in the short term. For the long term the idea of more author/series/genre threads is definitely a positive step.

Yeah, but even then, why start a debate for no good reason? I mean, I hate Twilight, and there are a ton of other great threads in this forum. So why waltz into the Twilight thread and (even with good reasons behind my opinion) just start tearing the series to shreds? I don't want to ruin anyone else's experience who likes the series. I mean, it's different with games. I am not one of those morons, say in the GTA Forums, who thinks only positive opinions should be written. Especially because most of the people complaining about a game, plunked down sixty of their hard earned dollars to buy it. So if they are disappointed, they need a place to rant, and a forum is as good as any to start.

But the truth is that not only do I think Twilight is horrible, I don't care enough about it to discuss it in the thread and alienate a ton of fans of the series. Again, had I spent 60 bucks on it, say, then I would definitely care enough.

I would still love to see something done with the Book Club. It has an amazing amount of potential, and it's a terrible shame to see it laying there stagnating.
