Well I don't know what's gone on over the course of a few months, but hah, congrats on the forum and mod Lone.

I've already said it in the thread itself, but it has appeared to be ignored.

I don't believe that the GD thread should be stickied. It is a non-game related thread and bears no relevance at all aside from acting like an in-forum random chat. I see no value at all in having this thread as a sticky. It should be linked in the Forum Index and left to sit with the other threads.

Due to it's popularity, it will always be near the top anyway, so it does not necessitate a sticky.

I would also suggest unfloating the banner competition as it's just about wrapped up.

I don't think that six stickied threads are enough to clutter up the forum. However, that said, I'm not too bothered either way.

So once more, I want to see what everyone else believes on this issue.


About the header/footer competition, it will be un-stickied as soon as the results are announced.

Not to be too difficult here, but i think the GD should be stickied. The header/footer competition will be moving, so thats one less, but i think the GD should stay stickied so everyone knows were it is as its a thread everyone can be involved with. Mind you, i dont really mind, so either way is fine.

I understand Neoseeker is about community spirit, but if you want to have a random chat, that's what the Loungin Forum is for.

The reason GD threads were removed from forums without Moderators was because of the fact that they were filled with pointless spam that reduced the credibility of the forum. Having one such stickied will divert visitors to the forum as they'll think that the forum doesn't take it's agenda seriously. I mean, if you are going to reduce the number of game threads appearing on the front page, then in all just reason, the general discussion thread should not be stickied.

Give me one good reason why it should. And saying that it is a place that everyone knows and can go is a load of bull because even if it wasn't stickied, the nature of a GD always floats it over all the forum related threads anyway. Thus, there is no need for it to be stickied.

I'm going to double check on this.. but I am pretty sure that it is frowned upon anyway.. I'll speak to a Super Moderator.

As you said, GDs generally stay on the first page, especially one that is as popular as the current GD in this forum.

If it does sink back a few pages, then there'd probably be a good reason for that.
There's no real reason for it to be stickied, imo.

Hardly forums of credibility.

A Football forum doesn't really merit any other kind of discussion anyway. Seriously, what is there to disuss beside random factors of the game and the appearance of the characters. There would not be anything that would attract an outsider to that forum regardless. A football game does not have a plot, or characters to bond to, or mini-games to overcome. It's a bland, quick-fix sporting game. Nothing more.

As for Fire Emblem. Thank you, it's a fine example of a poorly run forum considering the amounts of posts I have had to report in there specifically for the reason of being nothing BUT spam, even despite the GD thread being stickied there for the specific purpose of supporting spam.

So, in your opinion, more than half of the popular and active forums of Neoseeker lack credibility.

It's not just a thread. It's a General Discussion. It differs from other threads so it must be on top. If GD was a common thread then we would have one without a Moderator.

Now we have a moderator. And still there's a problem?

GDs are very common threads though. The only reason they aren't allowed in non-moderated forums is because alot of spam can happen without anyone doing anything about it. But otherwise, it's a fairly unimportant thread (forum-wise, anyways).

If anything, I reckon the "general FF8 discussion" thread should be stickied, since it's a general discussion about the game itself.
