Alright, this thread's purpose is general comments and suggestions about the forum's function. Most of you should be pretty familiar with this kind of threads from other forums.

So, here's pretty much the progress so far:

- General Discussion thread created.

- Thread Index updated. If anyone spots mistakes / missing threads, feel free to post them here or PM me.

- Game thread names edited, following Hell Fire's suggestion.

- Threads having reached 30 pages or having fulfilled their purpose (like Trivia competition) have been closed.


Feel free to comment or suggest new features.

Good job on cleaning up the forum so far. It's looking better already. ^^

And good idea with the [Game] tags, Hell_Fire. I might even add them to my own forum

Though should there maybe be a bit of a restriction on the number of game threads that aremade? There seem to be a hell of alot of them, and some are oddly similar to each other. I don't want to ruin any fun, butit's a shame when some FFVIII discussions tend to get pushed a few pages back when so many game threads are constantly being made/posted-in.

And yes, I agree with your comment about many game threads having been created. I think we could use a little more FF8 discussion, so I'm thinking of limiting the number of game threads.

Any other feedback on the Discussion vs Games issue would be appreciated.

I agree about having too many game threads at the moment. The following five game threads are arguably the ones with the least discussion value so I suggest that we rotate through them. For example, start with the ABC game and when that's done 30 pages, close it and open another hangman thread. Something like that anyway.

I agree there should be more discussion threads, however that could be tricky given that a large amount of the discussion on the game has now been done although its true i dont think any more game threads are a good idea. Although i think keep the ones we have. 20 questions and hangman are something that is still quite stimulating. the only one i think could be removed/rotated is the or game and possibly te Abc game. And isnt the CEG already roated with the spy game?

Well, we're probably biased since we forgot most about FFVIII details so we enjoy the game threads much more so than the discussion threads. But we really feel odd about the "need" for more FFVIII discussion. Some of those discussion threads kept going endlessly, getting very repetitive themselves, not less than an ABC game IOHO!

So in our opinion you don't have to close more game threads in favor to give discussion threads more space. If you cut down on game threads, which are the ones posted in mostly, like Krunal did on FFX, it has the risk of becoming a ghost town... Though we admit FFX is looking rather lively lately again as well. Ah wel, this is our 2 cents.

I agree there is the risk of lowering activity a little and we still want the forum to be fun, but rotating one or two of the games would be a good idea, just so there arent so many on at one time.

If activity in a forum is based purely off games, then it's probably good to get rid of some of them, and let some of that activity dwindle, I think. After all, new people don't come to forums that are filled with nothing but games. And it's a shame if deep discussions - no matter how repetitive - get buried by game threads that are used for nothing more than raising post counts.

Though I don't think that activity is much of a problem here. I think there's plenty of FFVIII discussions that coud be revived for the newer members, to hear new inputs, etc.

Well, we disagree on this point, but that happens, heh. We feel new arrivals, certainly if they just started the game, are not really interested in the deeper discussions, more so because often spoilers creep up in those kind of threads as well. We know that's the main reason that has kept us away from the FFX-2 board up until now.

And the game threads, while just post counters to some, are a fun way to shortly distract oneself from boring stuff like work or school. And they even provide you with knowledge that a GD may not have brought to the surface, like OF being a coke addict (the drink, not the drugs hehe), or Topaz being able to recite the alphabet backwards aged 3, haha! Not that it is important knowledge, but we think that's what shapes the community here. Those small things.

Having said all this, you won't hear us moan if one or more gaming threads disappear, but we just thought we'd clear a bit up on our opinion. (And, for the record, we don't post for the post count else we'd be more active in hangman and stuff! )

Ok, I was thinking of something like this for a rotation.

The Spy Games and the Elimination games are already being rotated. So that would be one.

Another could be ABC and the "Or" Game

And the last could be 20 Questions/ Guess Who, What

Though, I do think that there is no point in the ABC game anymore. It is the same thing over and over again. We can do without it in my opinion.

Also, I think we should get rid of either 20 Questions or the Guess Who /What thread. They are basically the same thing. If it were up to me, I would keep 20 Questions.

Hangman is a game that could go on and on imo.

I am not too sure about the Triple Triad game we want to start though. Would it rotate with another game or would it be continuous?

What does everyone else think?

Well, not sure how much we ourselves will play TT at all, but we think it would be nice if it was available at any time when two people want to play it. Especially since it is a game for two people only, unlike games like CEG and Spy game where up to 16 people compete.
However, TT tournaments should be only once in a while.

As for your other suggestions on rotations, fine with us Neto. Though we'd be happy if ABC (in it's new form) would stay for a bit longer.

There are good points from both sides. I have not made a definite decision yet, but it will most probably be somewhere in the middle; a combination of all suggestions. Currently I am leaning toward a rotation like the one Neto suggested, maybe with a few modifications.

I'll be considering all opinions, though, so I want to see what everyone thinks in this thread, instead of individually asking on MSN. I want to keep complaints and regrets to a minimum, so it's better to monitor first and act then.

Well the hangman game like you said will go on and on, I pretty much agree with you on the ABC game as the same words are always being used, although a slight change has happend, it still feels the same.
guess where "or" what game is basically the same as 20 questions, i'd get rid of guess where "or" what game imo.
The galbadia spy is our biggest hit so far I reckon.
