I agree. According to the information found at Squall's Terminal under section titled The Basics, Sorceresses use "magic", and ordinary people use "para-magic."

Para-magic was developed by Dr. Odine after he studied a Sorceress (accordign to the Tutorial), and is useable by junctioning to GF.

Yeah, you'd think that Dr Odine (or someone) would have mentioned whoever Edea got her powers from. Sure, it wasn't relevant to the story, but it would have been nice to know - especially since Dr Odine is so fascinated with sorceresses and spouting off information about them.

Even if it was a sorceress similar to those random (and, for some reason, identical) sorceresses we see in Time Compression.

Which gives me a thought ... is there a reason all those sorceresses were identical? Do all sorceresses 'evolve' into the same thing? (it's obvious their appearance changes as their power/age grows, but do they all end up looking the same in the end?), e.g. Edea was slowly starting to show inhuman traits like the vein-things on her face. Adel was still relatively human looking, though less-so than Edea. The Time Compression sorceresses were even less human. Ultimecia's true-form was barely human at all - it didn't even have a face. Does that mean they all end up looking like faceless monsters like Ultimecia. Hmmm...

(Or maybe they become more 'deformed' the longer they embrace their evil?)

Edea had Alexander junctioned though. Or is having a GD 'stocked' different than having a GF junctioned (I always assumed they were the same thing).

Very interesting thoughts. Maybe the more evil they become, the more deformed they become? Just a thought.

It looks like it's melded into her face/skin imo...



The 'veins' especially look like a part of her face in the concept art. Looks like the veins are melding into her skin - especially around her lower eyelids, eyebrows, and the side of her face. Maybe it is a part of her mask becoming a part of her face.


And maybe her make-up (i.e. dark eye shadow, dark lips) isn't even make-up. Maybe that's a part of her face too?

She wasn't a sorceress any more, at the end of the game, though.

I don't support the Sorceresses becoming deformed theory, because it that were the case, Ultimecia would be butt ugly, and she's not.

Her final form (what I consider her 'true form') is butt-ugly though. It's the most unhuman out of all the sorceresses.


I doubt her 'true form' is the pretty woman in the red dress, simply because it's a relatively weak form (about equal with Edea) and doesn't hold her main magical powers/abilities.

And they didn't have to make all the Time Compression sorceresses totally unique. But giving them something as simple as different hair or dress colors would have given them some sense of separate 'identity', as opposed to being total nameless sorceresses who, for some reason, all look the same.

They'd probably still need to junction a GF in order to use items though.

Ah, that's something I didn't remember to be honest. Then, like Matt said, there's this question: Which sorceress' powers did she inherit? I don't recall any more sorceresses being mentioned other than Edea, Adel, (Rinoa) and Ultimecia.

This one isn't named, but Matron makes this mention when she is trying to explain that Adel wasn't the one she received her powers from, like the Galbadians thought, and that Adel could still be around, and used by Ultimecia to acheive Time Kompression.

Yes, that's a valid theory there. I always wondered if certain people are more likely to receive sorceress powers, it's never clearly stated in the game.

Well,rinoa didnt get her powers till disc 3. she became a sorceress on disc 3, after edea lost her powers at esther and rinoa inheritted them, So no rinoa wasnt a sorceress till disc 3. Edea lost her powers and wasnt a sorceress no more in esther, Rinoa lost her powers when squall killed ultimecia ending the game in total happiness, edea inherited the powers at a young age, I dont remember anything being said about her age being 5 when that happend.

Like it says in the game, edea lost her powers and goes to a random person, rinoa happend to be that person maybe it was because she was the closet to her? or maybe its because of the whole situation wityh squall and rinoa, or maybe seifer, you never know.

Could just be a coinstidence
