My idea for an FF8-2

Hi folks, i'd like to discuss if it's possible to make an FF without any battles at all. I dont think what we played this far was really the final (or highest) form of fantasy. An interesting world without any battles or tragedy isn't impossible, it just plays in a much higher league of fantasy imo.


My idea was an FF8-2 that plays 200 years after the main game. Rinoa was the only survivor because she's a sorceress and cannot die without giving her powers to someone else. Everyone else died of age.


After the intro, the first dialogue would sound as follows:


Rinoa (sitting somewhere in the desert of Galbadia): Sigh!.... Duh!.... nothing is fun anymore!

A man (showing up out of nowhere): Hi Rinoa, you look kind of depressed, ya know?

Rinoa: How do you know my name?

The man: I'm Hyne, ya know? I know everything about you, since i was your creator.

Rinoa: Now you show up, after we solved all the trouble for you!

Hyne: I have to admit, that i was very lame. But although i might lack defensive and destructive power, i still have tons and tons of creative power, if not endless of it, i could even resurrect Squall if you like.

Rinoa: I will love you forever, if you actually do that!!!!

Hyne: (hehehehehe, i'm so great!) Of course i will, but i have a condition: You will have to play Triple Triad against me, i allways wanted to play that game, looks kind of interesting, ya know?

Rinoa: Triple Triad??? I never played that game, you better resurrect Squall soon, he's better with that game than me.

Hyne: Squall?!!! Are you kidding? That guy has all the high level cards, and he's skilled like no one else in that game! *trembles with fear* Squall will be the final boss, or even the final optional boss, there's no way i could beat him now. I'll resurrect him as i promised, but you will be my opponent in Triple Triad, until i'm ready for a stronger yet weak enough opponent like Zell.


You then play as Hyne, resurrecting people and playing Triple Triad whenever you like it. And maybe Squeenix could include creative stuff like drawing or creating your own charakters.


And it would follow the tradition of FF8: Leaving out stats, that allways seemed to be a necessity! (this time even the HP stat!)

OK, let's do it without the Random rule at all, since everyone almost dies because of it.


But Same and Plus have to be in it, the game would be uber boring without them. But lets make them completely optional.

Well to be honest after 200 years I'd think Rinoa would be a bit more mature than saying stuff like you have there especially after having seen everyone she loved die, I'd think she'd be quite bitter really.

Seriously though the game does not need a sequel the only thing that would even have a chance of working would be some form of prequel.

So Hyne offers someone their life back if they can beat him in a game of Triple Triad?
