Yes, someone, please find some GOOD cosplays because my eyes are hurting after seeing old fat guys dressing up as sailor moon. It's not just the fact that it's a middle-aged man wearing a skirt and thinking he's the shit that scares me, but the fact that there are people who would actually do that.

I think this is getting overboard.

What do you think makes a good cosplay? The level of similarity of the characters. Being ugly has nothing to do with it. It just so happens that most characters are good looking, so a good cosplay takes good looking people who look like their character.

These people posted their pictures onto Cosplay sites. If they had a problem with it then they wouldn't have done so.

Uh...Not necessarily. If you had to look facially identical to a character to cosplay, hardly anyone would take part in the hobby.
What's more, I've met a lot of those cosplayers you've been saying harsh things about. Not only are they some of the nicest people you could hope to meet, but they put SO much hard work into their creations, and skill / dedication make just as good a cosplayer as someone who was conveniently born with a pretty face.

I say all the more power to the people who have the confidence to do what they love without being held back by less than perfect body types.

That Paine looks so real, it's making me go nuts. But the asian Paine looks better for me.

Yeah, the Asian Paine has a more "Paine-like face".
But I think the non-Asian Paine has a more accurate outfit.

And I agree with you Hell_Fire - on the Gackt thing (yes, he is perfect) but also on the cosplay thing - the cosplay always looks better on an attractive, proportioned person - that's basically a fact with everything. Attractive people look better in ANY outfit, not just cosplay.
There are people who genuinely deserve to be praised for their outfits (like the Paine one above ... and Adella, the popular Aerith cosplayer)
And then there's the people who just shouldn't bother cosplaying (like the over-weight Yuna ... or most overweight Quistis cosplayers)

You can really tell who has put a lot of effort into make-up, the outfit and hair. (It's usually the whole combination that makes it look great)

Usually the best outfits are the ones bought from a cosplay shop. They're usually spot-on with accuracy.

But then again, who needs accurate cosplay? --

Talking about that alternate dimension Yuna right? Thats from the negeative dimension of which Yuna if fat and ugly while Tidus is actually an intersting character.
