If you take into account stats and the in-game battle systems then the results would depend on a lot of variables. But if you view this fight as if cloud and squall were real, then cloud would win. Sure squall is an exellent fighter, but cloud is superhuman. Squall wouldn't even be able to block cloud's attacks because cloud is so fast and strong. Things like special attacks wouldn't even have to be used as the fight would be over in an instant. The only way to make this match anywhere close to being fair is to inject squall with some jenova cells. Man I talk too much.

I am enraged. I reserved a copy of Final Fantasy VII: AC and it turns out it's coming out later in the year as opposed to yesterday, when I thought I would get it.

Which will make Cloud weaker via health and str, giving Squall the advantage, therfore, Cloud is better of sticking to no materia

I know I shouldn't be using the Cloud from Advent Children, but daaaammnn...

Squall wouldn't stand a chance.

If Cloud can fight off an insanely fast hasted Loz with incredible strength, AND deflect bullets from TWO Gunblades against Yazoo... well, you know.



And Materia might decrease stats a bit, but some Materia also raises stats... So while HP goes down, MP goes up... ect...

And then there is always a maxed out HP Plus which can make up for the rest of the Materia by increasing Cloud's HP 50%.

And then there is the uber-powerful materia-combo's that are nearly unstopable which makes killing a 2 million HP Weapon easy.

I agree with madhunter. There are too many factors to consider before automatically saying Cloud would win. I also think using FFVII:AC should be off limits because there is no reasonable medium for which to compare it with Squall.

There is no Auto-Revive ability in FF8. There is a Revive ability which acts as Full-Life, and Pheonix Pinions which auto-revive the party. But no Auto-Revive ability.

AT that point, we were all talking about a No-Junction, No-Materia battle. In which case, Aura CAN NOT be used.

Odin might not show up. Gilgamesh might not show up. Gilgamesh might not use anything powerful.

Better still, Cloud can equip a Ribbon.

Or... Cloud can summon Odin WHEN HE WANTS. meaning He dosen't have to wait for Odin's rescue like Squall would have to, if instant-death is what you think will determine this battle.

Yeah... but Pheonix appearing is rare...

And still nothing compared to Final Attack + Mastered Pheonix combo...

And there are only 2 (I believe) Pheonix Pinions in FF8.
