So I just started Disc 3 and whenever I enter a battle, it doesn't end. The enemies dies and the characters are just standing there... escaping doesn't do ANYTHING, the music still plays, and there's no action menus... however running away before the enemy dies DOES end them game--this COULD be a problem when it comes to the boss's and such where you can't run.... Help please??

I can't really think of anything thats wrong except a glitch. Try cleaning your disk and make sure there is no scratches. Does this happen in all battles or just certain monsters/areas?

It doesn't sound like cleaning the disk will help, the only thing that'll solve the problem is a new disk because the one you've got is faulty, but it means buying the game again. I've heard boiling or freezing the disk and wiping it dry can fix them, but I've never tried those methods.

my disc 3 was scratched and i couldn't get past the FMV in which squall and rinoa first board the ragnarok (out in space) because it kept freezing. so, i got one of those SkipDr things... they resurface any kind of CD-sized digital media (audio CDs, DVDs, PSX games, etc.) anyway, it works quite well and my disc 3 works beautifully again.

you can purchase one of those things at any nearby music and/or video game store for a reasonable price.

Hey guys guess how many times I've bought ff8......4 TIMES!!!
First was when it was scratched and the shop wouldn't give me my money back. The spells wouldn't work.
Second time was same reason, 'cept the playstation was knackered too.
Third time was when my Gamecube went kaput! and I'd just bought another ps1, and happened to think of a mission to successfully buy FF8 again, which I did.
And the last time was when disc four wasn't exactly straight and kept scraping inside the playstation, so my heavy-handed brother tried to straightn the disc and he broke it

So I have to laugh... I exchanged my Disc 3 for another one and it worked great... until I got into space with Squall and Rinoa, where she's passed out and then whats-her-face possess her... and she goes outside in her little spacesuit thing... FREEZES!!! gotta love it. Is the freezing of FFVIII common, or just amongst us?
