I don't think the Materia will lose it's power. It is more like Cloud will be sharing his Materia with Squall and Cloud can do NOTHING to prevent Squall from accessing his materia (due to his GF's ability to draw).

Basically, if Cloud has mastered Cure Materia for example (Cure3 could be equal to Curaga, I guess), then Squall could draw from that and heal himself and Cloud cannot do anything. And No, the Materia itself doesn't become weaker.

In FF8, we have seen plenty of monsters and enemies who has magic which Squall and co. can draw but the enemies does not become weaker (in term of attribute or magic). In some cases, enemies have magic which they themselves do not use (such as Seifer has Aura but I have never seen him use Aura on himself).

So, in that term, a simple command like Draw gives Squall a huge advantage over Cloud. Cloud can come with whatever magic he wants, but he cannot do anything to prevent Squall from drawing it from him.

However, one thing I cannot predict is, what could happen if Squall were to use draw on a summon materia like Knights of the Round (table), Phoenix, Alexander etc. Could Squall gain new summons? Or could Squall merely interrupt the summoning process? Or could draw has no effect on Summon materias, just as it could have no effect on Command Materias?

Yeah, there is some logic to wat ya said. It is not possible for Squall to steal Summons from a materia. IF he could do that, he could have drawn it from the casing holding Bahamut instead of fighting him in Battleship Island. So, logically speaking, unless Cloud has the summons in his own body, it is not possible for Squall to draw as his own.

Some ppl could say that by using Knights + some other materia combo, Cloud could easily win. If I were Squall and in such situation, all I could do is use Holy War on myself and Cloud couldn't be able to do anything.

And plus, one of the biggest advantages of Junction System over Materia is, no matter what materia ya have, unless ya have the right amount of MP, it is useless. And max. MP Cloud could have is 999. So, I don't think Cloud could continue to summon and use his MP without replenishing it with item (which can be stole from him using Mug command).

Also, another disadvantage here is - the use of Accessories. Squall could easily use ability like Auto-Haste and could get two turns for every one turn Cloud has. IF Cloud wants to catch up to Squall, he has to equip accessories like Sprint Shoes (if not mistaken) which gives him the necessary speed.

However, this leaves Cloud vulnerable to just about everything from Blind, sleep and confuse all the way to Death. Squall doesn't have to cast it (cos magic defense will be useless) cos he could use that in junction attack and Cloud will still be vurneable. IF Cloud wants to escape this, he could use Ribbon, but he must sacrifice something in return.

unbelievable this is the first thread that doesn't stuck on limit breaks i have to thank you all for this!!!i also think that squall wins against cloud but that is my opinion since ff8 is my favorite ff game(some people call me crazy for that) but also imagine that squall became for a short time director of seed!!!! and in ff7:ac cloud is mourning for the deaths of aeris and zack and squall solves all his problems in the end of the game!plus zack and vincent are more strong that cloud(i just hate cloud he is oveerated,vincent rules)!

Bub, ya may wanna use comma or fullstop now and then.

But ya rite in one thing - Cloud is overrated.

Just look at Squall - he started off as annoying young man who doesn't care for anyone else, and thinks everyone is a burden.

But over time, not only does he learn to care about others (espcially his two team mates - Zell and Selphie who he dislike working with in the beginning) but also found and FOUGHT for love. He broke into Sorceress' Memorial and brough Riona out, even so he had to face the whole Esthar army to do it. He willing to go against Ultimecia and trust his friends to back him up.

What about Cloud? Not only he was a spoilt brat in the beginning, it took Zack's persona to get the joker on track to be a good leader (basically, he never improved on his own).

He lost a team member (Aeris) and got himself turn into a vegetable. IF it is not for Tifa's love for him (I have no idea what she sees in him), Cloud could be a vegetable for ever (well, till the Meteor slams into the Planet). Basically, he was a burden to everyone and hardly did anything which can be considered his own unique achievement.

This is exacly what i want to say!!! He never did something admirable(excluding beating sephiroth in ff:ac).Ok he is cool, but only that!!Thanks for the tip about fullstops,this is the first time i write in a forum so sorry if i am being annoying.

I thought of that but i wasn't sure!Since kadaj is a embodiment of sephiroth's will and strength,either way that only proves that cloud has nothing to do with the word hero!!

Oh please, we all know that substitutes/copy-cats are not as genuine as the original. No matter how many clones comes out from Sephiroth's genetic material (taken by Hojo and cloned), they all be lacking in the strength and characteristic we see in the original (as we saw in the Cloud's memory recollection in Kalm).

SQUARE tries so hard to get Cloud up to other heroes' standard but falls short cos he kept fighting and winning over clones. I mean, who is Kadaj and the other two? Clones, just like Cloud himself have Zack's persona (something like a clone himself). So, no matter how hard Cloud tries, nothing can change the fact that Cloud is a Puppet.

Squall on the other hand is a genuine article.

Plus squall has a rival to complete him as a hero!!

Let's be fair to Cloud. Cloud has a rival also - his imagination. He kept thinking about Sephiroth so much that Sephiroth's clone seems to be dragging him all over the Planet.

Different between Cloud and Squall - Squall actually earned Seifer's respect as a fellow warrior. Look at the final fight in CD3, Seifer, Raijin and Kaijin saluted Squall as a fellow warrior and they fought with a sense of pride.

Cloud have never achieve such respect or recognition as a fellow warrior from either the Clones or others (who treated him as a friend only).

I think it would be awesome a viii movie with seifer as the main villian!He cut odin in two like he was nothing!!!

I could rather see a cross over like Dissidia. An alien world where heroes and villians from SQUARE Universe come together and beat the crap out of each other.

nice!!But we won't have the oppurtunity to see some depth in the heroes thoughts and character!
