	one would have to assume that zell had an aura, otherwise he couldnt use his limit break untill he was almsot dead, at which point he would actually be dead because i beleive tifa is faster... though imagines tifa mid punch reaches limit break: "oh zell hold on a sec i gotta spin these slotts to see if i can hit you"

	The reason that Tifa is less useful in FFVII is because everyone else is superior, despite her martial arts prowess. Clearly, a barrage of missiles from an airship, a blazing whirlwind of blades from a super human soldier, satelite beam cannons...ect... should be dealing more damage than a few punches and kicks. Hell, Vincent is the most powerful, able to one-hit KO the WEAPONs. Storywise, he can too (with Chaos' true power). In VIII, it actually doesn't make sense why Zell is the strongest. In fact, the time limit probably means he is lacking experience, and screws up alot, hence why sometimes he will only be able to perform poorly (2 seconds) and other times, incredibly (10+ seconds). Squall's the same. His lack of experience means he can't perform his finishers on cue, but instead, randomly, and only with specific gunblades. ------------------- FFVII ~ SCV ~ FFIX ~ CC

Talent is also a big factor here. Pitch Cristiano up against Figo, and Cristiano will emerge the victor half the time. Even still, in this case it appears to me Tifa is the more gifted fighter. Zangan hails her as his 'best student' when she is at the age of 15, that stands for itself. And tbh, I really do not like to be refered to as biased in this case. I am speaking strictly facts and my affection for Tifa is no factor.

	It happens quite often in video games. Have you not seen the hero lose to the villain in the beginning, and then at the end of the game, after going through obstacles and such, beats that villain? Even though they aren't as experienced, they get the upper hand, their motto to never give up and what-not. Ryu Hayabusa is a prime example of this. You can say the same for Dante in Devil May Cry 3, as well. Fighting games kind of go in this direction, just how cheap are those bosses? Most Action/Adventure games do this. Some RPG as well. Squall being hit by Edea's LB was like a turning point in a sense. What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. How many encounters with Sephy did the FFVII cast have? And was brought down until the end of the game?
