$99USD as in some strange Canadian currency, or... Oh. Yeah, it costs $120 if you pre-order it off a magazine.

In Canadian currency, it would cost almost $150 before taxes.

Oh. It costs about $90 before taxes for F1D0. And after taxes - about $90.

re: General Discussion [version 2] |

There are two types of taxes - Sales Tax and Income Tax. For Income Tax, you pay monthly taxes based on the amount of money you make. For Sales Tax, you pay 10-or-so% of what everything costs when you buy them. Some states have both taxes, and other states (F1D0's) only has one (Income). They all vary from state to state. And they were recently trying to pass an Entertainment (Sales) Tax in Oregon (where F1D0 lives), but it probably failed. They thought of it due to America's poor economy and Oregon's budget crisis. But nobody wants to pass taxes. Why? Because it'll hurt the economy even more, and the government makes stupid threats (like "Vote Yes Or We'll Kill This Dog!"). Plus, they released dozens of prisoners (none who commited major crimes). -Commit a crime, and be set free!-
There's also a monthly Federal Tax. Pres. Bush wants to lower that so we'll overcome our bad economy. Then, some more [monthly] money is taken out [automatically] for your Retirement Funds. Is that a good enough explanation? ------------------- ![]() Rarefare - All the latest news regarding Rareware!

Yeah, thanks.
That sounds pretty tough there, F1D0. Maybe you should move to Canada. In Ontario, we have provincial sales tax (PST) which is 7% of the dollar on sales and we also have and we have government sales tax (GST) which is 8% of the dollar on sales. Most things you buy include those taxes and someting that's $3.99 would then cost you $4.59 Eventhough the taxes are high, it makes life much better in the long run. -------------------

Yeah, we get thousands back all at once at around this time of the year. I'm getting around $400 just for making over $2200 in August.
We also get "free" health care, dental care and federal support just for being Canadian citizens. -------------------

Wow. That's cool. But F1D0 would rather save his own money for himself. Less likely, though.

I'm not good at saving up money either. That's what I'm doing for Lent though; saving.

Oh. Is it hard?
F1D0 has to save or else he won't be able to get anything over $5. And that's when he wants stuff that cost $50-$200. This message was edited by F1D0 on Mar 15 2003. ------------------- ![]() Rarefare - All the latest news regarding Rareware!

I'm the same way. I want/need to get things that're expensive, but I keep buying useless things like junkfood.

Yeah. But F1D0's actually pretty good at it. The only reason is because he saves up his lunch money. So it's little by little, not a couple of $50 checks or something.

Oh. That sucks. F1D0's saving up because he wants to buy either an XBOX or a Phantom by the end of the year.
