The wait is over. Newegg has 7970 graphics cards for sale

Just got mine, my 5970's with eyefinity just plain didn't work. I was going to go with two 6970's but after some research, it's actually better to get one 7970 for eyefinity than two 6970's. Way too overpriced, but if I was to wait until the 7950's came out like I was going to in the first place, I may be without my PC or without gaming for a while :\

Hopefully it's good enough to push 30fps at least in BF3 at 5760x1080.

The latest drivers, updated them because I was having trouble with eyefinity at first, and then it just didn't work at all. Uninstalled/reinstalled, etc.

My guess is that the two 5970's weren't being used 100% with just one 1080p screen, but now that I have three 1080p monitors, when I try to game the load is too much on my power supply. Then again, it could be anything, but I knew two 5970's might run into problems with an 850w power supply. Not a big deal though, I sold them to someone with a dedicated bitcoin mining rig. It covers the cost of the 7970 and then some.

Plus, my room is hot enough as it is with a monster rig, three monitors, a PS3, and a 50" Plasma (the hottest of all display types), so downgrading from two 5970's to a 7970 will hopefully keep my room from getting to 100f in the winter

Not to mention the new eyefinity features!

Hubba hubba. I can just feel the power looking at it. I also foresee the electric bill going up when this is in use.

Well from reviews I've seen, depending on the benchmark or game it is always better than a single GPU card, but with dual GPU card it seems to be alittle behind or ahead. again this does depend on game or benchmark, plus the card is still unsupported, and on release drivers when compared to the other cards.




With that said I'm interested to see how Nvidia's Kepler will perform, and with CES around the corner i hope it's soon.

what was the power consumption on that card? i only seem to find power consumption for the system in benchmarks (which is completely useless to anyone)

I think i saw 500w minimum in a review, and this was for the XFX Core 7970 which appears to be their top card and the only one sporting a custom cooler at the moment. Although with some driver improvements your 590 might be blown out of the water, slightly ^^

hiigaran Hmmm, I've checked several sites and it appears none of them mention the power consumption, and scan.co.uk doesn't appear to have include it on any of the product pages for the 7970, perhaps it's because it's still preorder, but i guess we'll have to wait.

EDIT check the neoseeker and hexus review it states minimum and maximum power consumption if that's what you wanted.
