	Log in to remove this sponsored message Good day Wrote an a small review of the Diamond HD3450, looking specifically at how gaming performance is on this inexpensive card. We used are new video section to throw some videos of gaming on a HD3450 into the article. Verdict: HD3450 can handle medium detail, low res' gaming, but doesn't really compare to a 8600GT / 2600XT card which is around the same price. However this card is fine choice for a HTPC. 	Nice article. One small thing I noticed is that your test CPU would be at 3.6 GHz with 450 x 8.

	So, really, it's not worth getting if you plan on gaming. Even on a budget gaming build, I wouldn't have that card in there. Seems like a good card if you just need something to watch movies, take little power, use little space, but still have the features available to play games IF YOU WANTED. What kind of 7-series card is this equivalent to? 7600GT/7800GS? Or is it actually less than those? Nice review, though, just stating my opinion on the card itself. 	I'm looking at making an HTPC and might use one of these in it. Looking at paper specs though this does alot better than it should.. ddr2 memory isn't exactly good stuff for video cards yes it still pulls bigger numbers than a 7600gt.

Ya, I agree with your appraisal of the HD3450. It's just that the 8600 GT and 2600 Pro/XT cards are just so cheap now these days, it's tough to compete for the HD3450. I've seen 2600XT cards selling for only about $5 more than the HD3450. But the HD3450 has that feature set which may make it a better purchase for someone who doesn't plan to game much. It's tough to say which 7 series the HD3450 compares to, but I'd guess that the 7600GT would run around the same speeds as a HD3450, but at resolutions above 1280x1024, the 7600GT may actually come out faster, because the HD3450's 64 bit memory interface is pretty limiting.

	I agree. If I was building a PC for someone who didn't plan on gaming, but wanted to play Sims 2 now and then, that's a good car. I'm sure it's never going to overheat and I'm sure it's quiet. It's a good card to put in a PC that's meant to run all day, watching vids, playing a few games like Sims 2, etc., and never give any probs. AMD/ATi is quality, I'd put one in a budget build and never think twice. BTW, that 'one feature' you were mentioning that could make it more of an appropriate card to one user over an other would be that it takes such a small amount of space, consumes a small amount of power, yet have the feautes of the 'top-dog' cards if the need comes. EDIT: Not to mention, I liked the video add-ins. Again, what were you using to record? I know, FRAPS will KILL FPS while recording. The card played smoother than I expected, even though it was getting killed by the recording software. 	I was using FRAPS. Some games did take a pretty substantial performance hit. Really playing Bioshock and Quake Wars wasn't too bad on the HD3450, I was surprised. The only game that would probably not be too great to play with was World In Conflict- - but even that ran 'okay'.

	Hey Kev. I read the review, I got lots of info from it. So nice review. But I am curious as to how this card would take BF2. As it is the most Demanding PC game I have right now. Or maybe GRAW...Though that is a RAM issue...Anyways. 	This was the most informational article that I have read about this video card. I have just recently bought this card last week since I am somewhat new to building and upgrading computers. This card was essentially my first time upgrading my computer's hardware (except for my RAM which I upgraded a couple months ago). I just wanted a card that would be would work effeciently for watching Blu-ray/HD movies and I guess this was the right choice budget wise too! I was wondering though if I can get some professional input from everyone. Would I be able to install a Blu-Ray drive in my computer and be able to watch movies very well without problems. 	Wow that card is TINY I guess I'm not used to seeing such small video cards.. It would be a good choice for a nice budget regular home computer build that is not going to be used for much gaming besides maybe some bejewled or something ya know. 	I have just bought this card, (eagerly awaiting arrival) to play some older game's (cod4, stalker S.O.C.), because my x1300 packed up, I'm hoping they will both run smoothly. as they did on the X1300 (surprisingly). spec: X2 4200+ 1gb of RAM, soon to be 1.5. 160gb HDD, 6150LE (shocker), soon to be HD3450 (yay).

	I'm on a laptop right now with an x1400 in it (just a higher clocked x1300). I know that card will be much better than the crappy x1300 you have been suffering with.
