DragonForce feel a bit like "One hit wonders" to me, in a certain aspect. If they had just released one album in all their career, they'd be considered a sensational band. Their material just sounds too similar, especially Inhuman Rampage onwards (I expect Ultra Beatdown to be similar to Inhuman Rampage). I mean, why continue to make records if you don't have anything new or different to offer? It's like they're remastering the same album over and over again.

they probably just enjoy writing music, and playing music. im pretty sure thats why everyone has ever joined a band.. ever. i dont really understand, is it like 'change your style up, or dont play record anymore'?
imo, ultra beatdown is quite a change from inhuman rampage. then again, i havent heard inhuman rampage in quite a while. still, theres much more slower parts, and string sections, and even a couple parts without any distortion on the guitars (i cant recall either of those in the previous albums, but remember its been a while since i heard them). its still a really guitar-oriented album, but its not just absurd wankery the whole time.

at the same time, i can see why a lot of people will hear it and just think 'typical dragonforce'. it pretty much is. they DID try some new things tho. its pretty discernible from the rest of their discography.
