progressive Between the Buried and Me - Page 4

I listened to Alaska and I liked it quite a bit. I'm going to see these guys on the 18th with The Black Dahlia Murder and Cephalic Carnage so I hope they put on a good show.

I just got done listening to The Silent Circus which I got today (My birthday) and The Silent Circus is deffinetly Between The Buried And Me's best CD. I like their cds in this order - The Silent Circus then Alaska and then Self Titled. The Silent Circus just seemed so well produced and the music is so good with the heaviness. Now I own all 3 Between The Buried And Me's CD's.

TSC is the only one I don't yet own, and ironically, the first one I planned to purchase.
Lyrically, though, the self-titled album is unbeatable. After the random one-line spits of Alaska, you don't expect the poetry of the self-titled. If Tommy varied his vocals as often then as he did now, that CD would beat 'em all out. I love the riffs and breakdowns to death, too. Haven't gone a day without listening to parts of that CD.

Between The Buried And Me is one band that I know will never disapoint me with their music. I think the only bad thing about Alaska that the other two albums had was good clean singing. It was mainly like whispering singing but More Of Myself To Kill is probably the best singing I heard Between The Buried And Me has done. Moredeci comes close. I still think that The Silent Circus is their best CD.

No other Between The Buried And Me album is better than The Silent Circus..even though every Between The Buried And Me CD is completly flawless. I suggest if you own a Between The Buried And Me CD and its not The Silent Circus..I highly suggest it. And I know what you mean for the real high voice during the it's raining haha. Then he goes straight into growling which is great.

I've never heard their recorded music, but their live show wasn't bad. Not exactly my music, but they were all fairly talented.

I saw them live last Sunday with The Dillinger Escape Plan, HORSE The Band, and Flashbulb. Flashbulb played first, and the music was pretty interesting, but it went on for far too long. It was one guy who had a bunch of computers set up and played this weird techno meets metal type stuff. Again, it was pretty cool, but the set needed to be much shorter. He played for probably longer than any other band that night (minus DEP). HORSE The Band came on next and played maybe a thirty minute set before some kid in the very front of the stage broke the keyboard. They were pretty cool, though I don't think I'd care for them much on CD.

BTBAM came up next, and I made sure to get to the very front of the stage, which was an excellent idea because Tommy put the mic directly into my face on three occasions (first I shouted "All bodies, contortion," second was "Seperate us," and I don't remember the third, sadly). Anyway, the performance was spot on. Tommy was a beast on stage, Paul was nailing all of his sweeps and super sexy riffs, and the rest of the band seemed to be doing exactly what they were supposed to for each song. Oh, and the set list was hot (in order, for once):

"Autodidact"
"Selkies: The Endless Obsession"
"Shevanel Cut A Flip"
"Alaska"
"Mordecai"
"Lost Perfection a) Coulrophobia"
"b) Anablephobia"

DEP played after them and put on a hell of a show, but unfortunately, I could only stay for maybe a third of it since I had school the next morning. The songs they played that I was there for included "The Mullet Burden," "Baby's First Coffin," "Setting Fire To Sleeping Giants," and a couple others. By the way, the singer, Greg, is *bleep*ing nuts. He was hanging upside down from these pipes on the ceiling and he also tried to knock down these massive speakers that dangle in mid-air. It was crazy as shit.

Can't wait to see BTBAM when they come back to town with Every Time I Die in March. Oh, and it's on a Saturday. Score.

I don't know. I mean, I love "The Silent Circus," but I think it pales in comparison to both "Alaska" and the self-titled CD. But "The Silent Circus" does have one amazing thing about it, the "trifecta," as I like to call it. "Ad A Dglgmut," "Destructo Spin," and "Aesthetic" all in a row is just orgasmic.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I was at this local distro and picked up a copy of From Here On which is Tommy Rogers first band before Undying and Between The Buried And Me. Got it for $8 and it's really good. If you haven't heard them check them out.
