It's the same thoughts that anybody who knows what hiphop is truly meant to be about has in their heads. Guys like 50 and the rest of them are doing nothing but screwing the hiphop industry over in my opinion, and groups like Outkast are really a declining portion of a music genre slowly fading into non-existance...

I didn't really realize it until a few years ago. But OutKast are one of the only true surviving Hip-Hop act from the last Golden era of Hip-Hop (93-1994). You can throw 95 in there too. I think a lot of Hip-Hop fans got alzheimer's over these past 10 years. It use to be cool to experiment, and you saw this as the norm in Rap. Now it seems people were settling for the Gangster Contemporary mainstream Rap music. OutKast stands out cause they seem to be the only people doing it on a high level. I noticed he mentioned ATCQ, and the one thing about those guys when they got to the top. It made them strive to experiment even more.

I wasn't even feeling this album like I was the previous others. But I thank OutKast for bringing the real experimental Hip-Hop back. And not when a Rapper wants to experiment by using a different producer this year.

Outkast together with BTNH(although the latter has not been the same ever since...well they haven't been the same!) are 2 of the few artists still around today that actually were already in the scene during the early 90s when NWA put LA on the RAP map.

And yeah, I was wondering What took Andre3000 too long when they one the best rap album award.

I agree with you dizzie, but the only thing I didn't like from the band last night was Andre3000. Everytime the camera would pan over to him he'd look like he didn't want to be there. When they won their first on-air award, it took him a while to get up to the stage only to say "Thank you." Really, I know it's just a schtick that he has to act like some guy out of this world (Andre3000) but he sure does act like a fool. Props to Big Boi for looking like he actually had a good time.

I didn't see the awards, I never watch them, though I have heard of Andre being out of it and I don't blame him.

I think the above post by Bad_Boy really proves this too. People need to check out some of their older stuff, I believe it truly tops anything their doing now. Songs like Mainstream, Decatur Psalm and ATLiens come to mind. In no means are they dissing their newer fans, that'd be absurd, just everybody think they just came out a couple years ago and that their best songs are Hey Ya and The Way You Move

I'm not really into Outkast as much as I used to be, they're still really good and one of the few mainstream rappers with talent but it's just not the same. I guess most artists go through that period. Their just too mainstream now. You can't watch tv without hearing that song Hey Ya 50 billion times. Media has killed it. I think that's what Andre might have been pissed at.

I'm probably being selfish though. I'm happy for their success and that their music is so popular.

Reading back on my posts, I seem to be one of them "newer" Outkast fans, but i'm not. Like many other people, I also thought they appeared out of nowhere in 2000 with Stankonia, but as Andre3000 said: "Do the history" and that's what I did around 2001 sometime.

I've heard a few of their older songs but am still yet to buy ATliens; from what i've read of the posts here it seems that ATliens is the prime Outkast album.

*** damnit I hate most anything mainstream ESPECIALLY rap and hip hop but I'll admit, that one song that is played everywhere is almost alright.

Think it's called Hey Ya, just get that beat in my head. But thats pretty much it.
