	Log in to remove this sponsored message quote sphinx87 What pisses me off about The Darkness is that Justin Hawkins slates the modern music scene which is a fair enough judgement, and states his influences are old school rock bands the likes of Led Zep et al, but they don't do any justice whatsoever to that era, let alone bring it into the limelight it still deserves. Instead they trivialise it and turn it into a shitty gimmick. His solo's are pretty good compared to most other current mainstream rock guitarists, but I agree the actual is more like British Happy Rock than something with real meaning behind it. But you can't blame them for giving the people what they want, it's their jobs and they need to make the $$$. Maybe when they're more established and are sick of being so mainstream then they might become heavier and more meaningful...here's to hoping! Mj ------------------- NIRVANA ROKZ

Mj To be fair, they're inspirations are bands such as Led Zepplin and Thin Lizzy. Not exactly the heaviest ever bands, I think they're just as heavy as both of them, and that's how they like their music. 	Yeah but like I was saying, they don't do justice to those influences, they pick the characteristic elements of that musical era and parody them (the high pitched vocals of which I have never heard as high in any Led Zep song), the image, the solos. They are nothing but a gimmicky parody which gives 70s/80s rock a bad name. -------------------

Hawkins will try to fade it out in the next album or two I hope. -------------------

	I don't think his voice is that bad, but he does go over the top with it in some songs. It's still very hard to sing that high though, he's just gotta have a balance between it all so he doesn't sound like a bloody chipmunk on ecstasy! I liked the actual music on their 1st album, I'm just disappointed with the new single. It's so poppy and I definately won't be listening to it again. Mj ------------------- NIRVANA ROKZ

	Just finished listening to OWTTHAB. Also didn't like it as much as PTL, less tracks, but it's still something i'm proud to own and can listen to without fear of playing it out.
